Method and system for automated association of devices with electricity meters
A system, method and device for automated association of a device and a power meter. For example, the method includes determining a power profile for a power meter, determining device-specific power information for each of a plurality of devices, comparing the device-specific power information for each of the plurality of devices against the power profile for the power meter, determining, based upon the comparing, which of the plurality of devices is associated with the power meter, and recording the power meter and its associated device in a network management record. The techniques may be extended to include associating multiple multifunction print devices to one of a plurality of power meters based upon power log and job arrival information for the print devices as compared to power profile information from the power meters, thereby providing for automated associated of the devices and the power meters without unnecessary human interaction.
System And Method For Correcting Meter Sizing
A computer implemented method for selecting an appropriately sized meter for use in a selected application implemented by a computer processor implementing instructions stored in a non-transient memory is described. The instructions include receiving utility meter data transmitted from a plurality of utility meters, each utility meter being installed at a unique utility monitoring location, identifying incorrectly sized utility meters based on utility meter data for particular utility meters that displays quantization effects, and selecting an appropriate meter based on the identification of the utility meters displaying quantization effects.
Multi-factor provisioning of wireless devices
Wireless devices are provisioned using multiple factors. As part of a wireless detection phase, multiple wireless communications are received that were transmitted by multiple wireless devices. Individual wireless devices are distinguished from each other among the multiple wireless devices based on a distinguishing feature of each of the multiple wireless communications to obtain a provisional set of wireless devices. As part of an electrical load detection phase, one or more wireless devices connected to an electrical power circuit are identified based on time-based measurements of electrical power consumed by electrical loads on the electrical power circuit and/or powerline communications received via the electrical power circuit. The provisional set of wireless devices obtained by wireless detection may be filtered to obtain a filtered set of wireless devices that excludes wireless devices of the provisional set not connected to the same electrical power circuit.
Smart grid communication assessment and co-simulation tool
Systems and methods are provided for modeling and simulating a communication network operating under at least one communication protocol, which supports a Smart Grid electricity network. Communication performance data of the communication network are generated by a processor based on operating behavior of the Smart Grid with a plurality of assets under a first condition. Devices in the Smart grid are grouped in bins for rapid modeling. One or more different configurations of the communication network are entered into the processor and related performance data is also generated. Network configurations are compared based on the generated performance data which may include end-to-end delay and reception rate. Processor based systems to perform modeling methods are also provided.
Storm confirmation and path prediction system
Disclosed are various embodiments for confirming a tornado event has contacted a ground surface and for generating a path prediction. Upon receipt of power outage alarms from metering devices, the Advance Metering Infrastructure (AMI) application can generate cluster areas based on the location of the metering devices. The AMI application can compare a cluster area to a tornado pattern to determine if the cluster area has experienced a tornado event. The AMI application can determine a speed and a direction of the tornado event based on the location and a time stamp of a power outage associated with the metering devices in the cluster areas.
Voltage pattern analysis system and method
A voltage pattern analysis system and method may automate aspects of the process of mapping or assigning utility meters to a specific transformer or other distribution node by identifying misassociated meters and correcting a system-wide transformer assignment or distribution node assignment. When a meter's voltage signal does not correlate well with other meters' voltage signals on the same transformer, the meter is likely misassociated to that transformer. A pairwise voltage signal correlation may be computed for all meters assigned to a transformer and a voltage signal correlation for every transformer in the system, or a subset thereof, may be imputed. Individual meter correlations may then be compared with the transformer correlation. For meters identified as misassociation candidates, transformers or other distribution nodes within a specified radius may be considered for reassignment of the meter.
Grid diagram creation and operation control
For determining the topology of a grid section of an AC power grid, the grid section comprising a grid connection point, at least one branch branching off from the grid connection point and including a plurality of energy consumption and/or energy generation units, and at least one measurement point in the at least one branch, dependencies of variations of a grid voltage measured at the at least one measurement point based on variations of connection power values of at least some individual ones of the energy consumption and/or energy generation units are determined.
METHOD FOR DETERMINING EVENTS IN A NETWORK
A method for determining events in a network of consumption meters, in which an event is determined by grouping data wherein the event according to consumption meters which have detected this characterizing data. If groups of consumption meters match, this is determined as an event, the grouping being carried out according to the following criteriatemporal coincidence of the eventspatial concordance of the eventconsistency of the event type. The spatial concordance is determined by determining and ranking the Euclidean distance of each of a plurality of consumption meters to everyone of the of others of the plurality of consumption meters, and by assigning the n closest consumption meters that have detected this characterizing data to a group of consumption meters.
