Time-accurate CFD enhanced interpretation of strain-based flow measurement
A system for measuring a velocity or volumetric fluid flow rate of a fluid flow passing within a pipe includes a SONAR flow meter configured to determine a measured velocity or volumetric rate of a fluid flow passing within a pipe. The system further includes a CFD analysis device configured to produce a simulated velocity or volumetric rate of the fluid flow passing within the pipe. The system further includes a processing unit in communication with the CFD analysis device and the SONAR flow meter. The processing unit is configured to produce at least one error function based on the measured velocity or volumetric fluid flow rate and the simulated velocity or volumetric fluid flow rate, and is configured to determine an adjusted velocity or volumetric fluid flow rate using the at least one error function and the measured velocity or volumetric fluid flow rate.
Calibrated Flow Rate Sensing and Flow Control Device
A fluid flow rate sensor, which may also be the basis of a valve for a fire suppression system, uses a sensing arm to convey motion of an obturation body or a valve closing member to a sensor system which evaluates the motion and generates a calibrated measure of the flow rate and/or an alarm signal in response if warranted. The obturation body and the valve closing member are capable of both rotation and translational motion, both of which are sensed using the sensing arm. The sensor system is isolated from the fluid within the valve.

Detection device
A detection device for detecting characteristics of a mixed fluid containing different types of substances with different thermal properties within a prescribed range, includes: one or a plurality of heaters for heating the mixed fluid; a plurality of temperature detectors for detecting the temperature of the mixed fluid heated; a flow rate calculation unit for calculating the flow rate of the mixed fluid using the output from at least a portion of the plurality of temperature detectors; a correspondence relation storage unit that stores the correspondence relation between the output from the temperature detectors for a prescribed flow rate and the mixture ratio of the substances in the mixed fluid; and a mixture ratio calculation unit for calculating the mixture ratio of the substances in the mixed fluid on the basis of the output from the temperature detectors and the correspondence relation.

Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure Device
A bi-level positive airway pressure device includes a housing that has a patient port for connecting to an airway of a patient. There is a device (e.g., a nozzle) for generating a positive airway pressure that is directed through a conduit towards the patient port. An exhalation detector includes a nozzle emitting a jet of a gas directed across the conduit and directed at a receptor channel when exhalation gases flow from the patient port, thereby an increase a gas pressure is present at the receptor channel when the exhalation gases flow from the patient port. The exhalation detector converts the increase in the gas pressure into a movement of an occluding member such that when the exhalation gases flow from the patient port, the occluding member moves to block the means for generating the positive airway pressure.
