METHOD AND MEASURING DEVICE FOR DETERMINING A MEASURED QUANTITY RELATING TO A FLOW
A method determines a measured quantity relating to the flow of a fluid through a measuring tube, in two propagation directions, and a receive signal is captured. A transit time difference is determined depending on the position of the main maximum of a cross-correlation of the receive signals. Whereupon the measured quantity is determined depending on the transit time difference, and the transmitting ultrasonic transducer is controlled in each case with an excitation signal. The excitation signal has a fixed carrier frequency. The excitation signal has a phase shift and/or an envelope with a plurality of temporally spaced maxima, and/or, if a trigger condition is fulfilled, the fulfilment of which depends on the height of the main maximum and/or of at least one secondary maximum of the cross-correlation. The determination of the measured quantity is modified compared with a normal operating mode and/or a message is output.

Inspecting an ultrasound flow meter
An inspection device for an ultrasound flow meter is provided that has an inspection chamber having a fluid at a flow velocity of zero and having a first installation station for a first ultrasonic transducer and having a second installation station for a second ultrasonic transducer of the ultrasound flow meter so that the ultrasonic transducers are aligned toward one another in the installed state and span an ultrasound measurement path through the inspection chamber on the connection line. The invention further relates to a method of inspecting and/or calibrating an ultrasound flow meter.

Ultrasonic meter employing two or more dissimilar chordal multipath integration methods in one body
A system and method to detect and quantify integration errors in a transit time ultrasonic flow meter uses dissimilar integration methods or schemes employed simultaneously. In a preferred embodiment, a number of chordal paths are arranged in a single meter body such that at least two dissimilar chordal integration schemes can be used to determine the flow rate. At least one of the chordal paths is common to both integration schemes. The total number of chordal paths needed in any chordal measurement plane is less than the sum of the chordal paths used in each of the integration schemes (as is the sum of the planes), thereby reducing hardware requirements.

Ultrasonic fluid flow measuring method and apparatus for inferring flow speed relative to the phase shift between signals from the transducers
A method of inferring fluid flow speed through a passage comprises receiving a first signal having a frequency and phase corresponding to that of a first ultrasonic wave detected after passing through the fluid in a direction with a component opposed or aligned to a main direction of the fluid's flow. Receiving a second signal having a frequency and phase corresponding to that of a second ultrasonic wave detected after passing through the fluid in a direction with a component different to that of the first ultrasonic wave with respect to the main direction of the fluid's flow. Inferring the fluid flow speed through the passage based on the relative phase shift between the first and second signals.
