Liquid level detection device and refrigeration cycle apparatus
A liquid level detection device that is provided in a vessel and configured to detect a liquid level of fluid stored in the vessel includes a first plate formed in a plate shape, and a second plate formed in a plate shape and disposed to face the first plate. The first plate is disposed in such a manner that a surface opposite to a surface facing the second plate is orthogonal to a flow direction of fluid around the first plate in the vessel.

FLUID-LEVEL SENSOR
A fluid-level sensor includes a housing, a substrate supported by the housing and defining an arcuate slot completely though a thickness of the substrate, and electrically conductive traces disposed on a backside of the substrate. A wiper assembly is disposed adjacent to a front side of the substrate and includes an arm pivotal relative to the substrate and a wiper attached to the arm. The wiper has an elongate neck extending through the slot and a head attached to the neck and in contact with the traces to close an electric circuit, wherein the wiper is configured to move along the slot and slide across the traces responsive to pivoting of the arm to vary resistance of the electric circuit to output a fluid-level reading.

Liquid level sensor
The present invention provides a liquid level sensor and an automatic calibration process which removes the need for prior manual calibration of the liquid level sensor, as this happens dynamically during installation and use of the pump. Further, by frequently monitoring the calibration of the sensor and correcting for long term drift or contamination on the sensing surface, the reliability of the liquid level sensor is considerably better than those of the prior art. By operating a solid state sensor, there are no moving parts in the liquid level sensor described above.
