Elevator car load measurement system and method for determining a load of an elevator car
An elevator car load measurement system for determining a load of an elevator car includes a plurality of at least two force sensors that are daisy-chained and connected to a controller for determining the load. Each force sensor measures a force exerted by the elevator car on the respective force sensor and generates a frequency signal with a square-wave form, wherein the frequency signal is proportional to the respective measured force. At least one of the force sensors adds a first frequency signal received from the previous force sensor along the daisy chain a second frequency signal generated by the at least one force sensor to generate a frequency sum signal, the last of the force sensors in the daisy chain forwards the frequency sum signal to the controller.
Weight sensing energy attenuator
Method and apparatus are provided for a vehicle seat weight detection system utilizing a metal deformation type energy attenuating device disposed in a load path between a seat and a vehicle structure. The energy attenuating device includes a weight sensing portion with a first end connected to one of the seat or vehicle structure, and a second end configured to transfer the seat weight load to a deformable portion of the energy attenuating device connected to the other of the seat and vehicle structure. An aperture in the weight sensing portion between the first and second ends divides a region adjacent the aperture into first and second sides. A slot intersecting the aperture and lying on a plane generally perpendicular to the load path divides the second side into upper and lower halves. A sensor on a surface of the first side of the weight sensing portion is configured to detect strain variations in the surface and produce a calibrated weight signal.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR PAYLOAD ESTIMATION AND HITCH CONDITION DETECTION USING INTEGRATED SENSORS
Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture are disclosed for payload estimation and fault detection using hitch integrated sensors. An example apparatus includes a pin orientation determiner to determine a first orientation of a first pin and a second orientation of a second pin, the first pin and the second pin disposed within a hitch and calculate a relative orientation of the first pin and the second pin based on the first orientation and the second orientation. The example apparatus further includes a hitch condition detector to determine if a physical change has occurred in the hitch by comparing the relative orientation to an installation orientation of the first pin and the second pin.
