The light emitting device has an emitter face defining an emission face area. An aperture plate is coupled to the sensor housing, the aperture plate defines an aperture having an aperture area that is less than the emission face area of the emitter face. The aperture is less than 1 mm from the emitter face wherein the light emitting device is not fixed to the aperture plate. A lens is coupled to the sensor housing, having an optical axis extending through the aperture. The aperture plate is positioned between the lens and the emitter face. Boresighting angle variation across sensor components on a manufacturing line may advantageously be reduced without increased cost associated with active alignment. Irradiance drop-out may also be reduced.

ELECTRONIC RING FOR MONITORING VITAMIN D LEVELS

The proposed invention relates to an electronic ring for monitoring Vitamin D produced in a body of a user. The electronic ring comprises an Ultraviolet (UV) light sensor for determining a value of Ultraviolet B (UVB) radiation during exposure of sunlight on a body of a user. The electronic ring further comprises a microcontroller for determining an exposure time of the user to the sunlight. The microcontroller further determines an UVB dosage of the user based on a reciprocal of a product of the exposure time and a predefined weightage factor. The predefined weightage factor is associated with a wavelength of the UVB radiation. The microcontroller further determines an amount of Vitamin D produced in the body of the user based on the UVB dosage of the user.

ION BEAM TIME OF ARRIVAL (TOA) GAUGE

A gauge that is configured to detect a time at which radiation enters the gauge. The gauge may include a member that is configured to transition from a first state to a second state upon receipt of the incoming radiation, and may include a light probe that is configured to detect when the member transitions to the second state. The gauge may provide for determining a time of arrival of the radiation at another gauge. For example, the gauge may correlate the time of arrival at the gauge with the another gauge, thereby providing for correlating a response time of a test specimen with actual exposure time of the test specimen to radiation (e.g., an ion beam).

ARM-WORN DRIVER SIDE SKIN SUN DAMAGE PROTECTIVE DEVICE

A solar radiation protective band for a driver that includes a housing and an armband. The housing includes a front panel, a side panel, and a microcontroller. The front panel includes a front panel UV light sensor, a front panel IR phototransistor, and an LCD. The side panel includes a side panel UV light sensor, and a side panel IR phototransistor. A temperature sensor measures a skin temperature and generates a temperature signal. A skin color sensor detects a skin color of the driver and generates a skin color signal. The microcontroller requests an input of a SPF of a sunscreen used by the driver; calculates an exposure time threshold; generates a UV exposure warning when an exposure time exceeds the exposure time threshold; calculates an updated skin temperature; and generates an IR exposure warning when the updated skin temperature exceeds a maximum skin temperature threshold.
