AUTOMATIC GENERATION OF REFERENCE CURVES FOR IMPROVED SHORT TERM IRRADIATION PREDICTION IN PV POWER GENERATION
20210135623 · 2021-05-06 ·

A system and method for correcting short term irradiance prediction for control of a photovoltaic power station includes an irradiance data manager that generates an observed irradiance curve based on irradiance measurements received from an irradiation sensor, and a reference curve generation engine that generates a reference curve representative of irradiance values for a clear sky day. An irradiance prediction engine generates an irradiance prediction curve based on image segmentation and motion filtering of cloud pixels in sky images. A prediction correction engine corrects the irradiance prediction curve within a short term future time interval based on probabilistic analysis of time segmented intervals of the observed irradiance curve, the reference curve, and the irradiance prediction curve.

The housing is attached to a hanger 22 located at the same level or below the top end 18 of the housing 12 and adapted to hang the housing 12 on a hanging element such as a cable. The housing 12 may further comprises a leveling component 34 for leveling the solar radiation sensor or the entire monitoring device 100. The monitoring device 100 optionally comprises a shading sleeve 48 compatible with passing the hanging element through the monitoring device 100.

Non-tracking solar energy collector

The present application describes embodiments of a non-tracking solar energy collector comprising: (a) at least one solar radiation concentrator for collimating and directing the incident solar radiation rays to at least one focal point along the surface of a reactive reflector; (b) the reactive reflector mounted on top of an external cavity and having at least one transparency zone instantly formed at said at least one focal point of the solar radiation rays, for letting the solar radiation rays enter said external cavity, wherein said transparency zone is constantly moving along the surface of said reactive reflector following the position of said at least one focal point of the solar radiation rays; and (c) the external cavity containing a solar cell and capable of trapping the entered solar radiation rays by inner scattering of said solar radiation rays on the walls of said external cavity, wherein said inner scattering of said solar radiation rays inside said external cavity is preventing solar radiation to escape from said solar cell, thereby minimising solar radiation losses.

PLZT thin film capacitors apparatus with enhanced photocurrent and power conversion efficiency and method thereof

The exemplified systems, and method thereof, includes PLZT thin film (Pb.sub.0.95La.sub.0.05Zr.sub.0.54Ti.sub.0.46O.sub.3) paired with a bottom metal and top transparent conductive oxide, that forms a capacitor structure with enhanced photocurrent and power conversion efficiency. The exemplified systems use metal electrode (platinum) as bottom electrode and a transparent oxide (Indium Tin OxideITO) as the top electrode. In some embodiments, the capacitor structure are used in a solar cells, ultraviolet sensors, or UV indexing sensors. In some embodiments, the capacitor structure are energy generation or for medical diagnostics (e.g., for skin care application).

Photodiode having quantum dot light absorption layer

A photodiode comprising a photoactive spinel oxide layer is described. This photoactive spinel oxide layer forms a contact with both a light absorption layer of quantum dots, quantum wires, or quantum rods, and an inorganic substrate layer. In some embodiments, the inorganic substrate layer and the photoactive spinel oxide layer form an isotype junction. Methods of characterizing the photodiode are provided and demonstrate commercially relevant electrical and optoelectronic properties, particularly the ability to operate as a photodetector with a high photosensitivity. An economical process for preparing the photodiode is provided as well as applications.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PREDICTING DAILY LIGHT INTEGRALS FOR CROP GROWING
20210080615 · 2021-03-18 ·

Monthly average DLI values for a specified geographic location, or a greenhouse, polytunnel or other controlled environment at the specified geographic location, are calculated from historic reference data from weather stations. The calculations are a prediction based on the geographic similarity of the specified location to the locations of the weather stations. Calculations may also be based on the proximity of the weather stations. Weather data from satellites may also be used. A calculation indicates whether a proposed controlled environment in a specified geographic location will provide sufficient monthly DLI for a given crop with known DLI requirements. Where the DLI is insufficient, an amount of supplemental electric lighting is specified.
