An analysis and observation device includes: an electromagnetic wave emitter that emits a primary electromagnetic wave; a reflective object lens having a primary mirror provided with a primary reflection surface reflecting a secondary electromagnetic wave and a secondary mirror provided with a secondary reflection surface receiving and further reflecting the secondary electromagnetic wave; first and second detectors that receive the secondary electromagnetic wave and generate an intensity distribution spectrum; and a controller that performs component analysis of a sample based on the intensity distribution spectrum. A transmissive region through which the primary electromagnetic wave is transmitted is provided at a center of the secondary mirror. The transmissive region transmits the primary electromagnetic wave, which has been emitted from the electromagnetic wave emitter and passed through an opening of the primary mirror, thereby emitting the primary electromagnetic wave along an analysis optical axis of the reflective object lens.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PREDICTING SAMPLE PROPERTIES BASED ON SPECTRAL MEASUREMENTS
20230194424 · 2023-06-22 ·

Techniques are disclosed for predicting a property value of a sample of a particular sample type. A wavelet transformation is applied to the obtained spectrum to compute a sample set of wavelet coefficients in a plurality of wavelet bands. Calibration sets of wavelet coefficients are computed by wavelet transformations of respective NIR/MIR spectra obtained from calibration samples of at least the particular sample type. Each calibration set is associated with one or more reference property values of the respective calibration sample. The system creates a local PLS model of the to-be-determined property value of said sample by selecting a predefined number k of nearest neighbors of the sample set, and computes the local PLS model based on the selected k nearest neighbors and their associated reference property values. The property value of said sample is predicted by applying the local PLS model to the sample set.

Spectroscopic biological material characterization

Systems and methods for characterizing biological specimens, which may involve identifying a cell type or state corresponding to a disease or health condition of a subject. A biological specimen is subjected to electromagnetic radiation for spectroscopic analysis such as Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) to determine the relative abundance of proteins or amino acids in the cells, which is used in a comparison to previously stored relative abundance data of a database to automatically identifies at least one of cell type and/or cell state of the cells (or the disease/health state of the subject with the disease state including the possibility of virus infection, or drug susceptibility of a subject to bacteria or fungus). The method may also be employed with biological entities or cellular structures such as exosomes and even protein or nucleic acid fragments to determine disease states or health states of the subject.
