METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR QUANTITATIVE AND DEPTH RESOLVED HYPERSPECTRAL FLUORESCENCE AND REFLECTANCE IMAGING FOR SURGICAL GUIDANCE
An imaging system, such as a surgical microscope, laparoscope, or endoscope or integrated with these devices, includes an illuminator providing patterned white light and/or fluorescent stimulus light. The system receives and images light hyperspectrally, in embodiments using a hyperspectral imaging array, and/or using narrowband tunable filters for passing filtered received light to an imager. Embodiments may construct a 3-D surface model from stereo images, and will estimate optical properties of the target using images taken in patterned light or using other approximations obtained from white light exposures. Hyperspectral images taken under stimulus light are displayed as fluorescent images, and corrected for optical properties of tissue to provide quantitative maps of fluorophore concentration. Spectral information from hyperspectral images is processed to provide depth of fluorophore below the tissue surface. Quantitative images of fluorescence at depth are also prepared. The images are displayed to a surgeon for use in surgery.
METHOD AND SIGNAL GENERATOR FOR PRODUCING A CONTROL SIGNAL FOR AN ACOUSTO-OPTICAL ELEMENT
A method for generating a control signal for an acousto-optical element includes generating a raw signal using at least one correction term by an IQ modulation from a target I component and a target Q component, and amplifying the raw signal to become the control signal. The target I component and/or the target Q component are corrected using the at least one correction term. The at least one correction term is obtained from an analysis of the control signal.
Compact apparatus for high-speed chemical spectral signature measurement and method of using same
A multiband IR adjunct (MIRA) sensor to spectroscopically determine the content and the concentration of chemical composition of a targeted object, includes a sensor housing, a first front optics in a first optical channel, a second front optics in the first optical channel, an acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF), a photo detector (PD), a set of back optics in the first optical channel that focuses polarized narrow-band light beams received from the AOTF device onto the PD, the PD converting the polarized narrow-band light beams into an electrical signal, and a data acquisition unit signal-connected to the PD, the data acquisition unit collecting the electrical signals. Multiple optical channels can be provided within the housing to analyze UV/VIS/near infrared (NIR), short-wavelength infrared (SWIR), mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR), and LWIR wavelength ranges respectively.
Method and apparatus for actuating an acousto-optical component
A method and apparatus for actuating an acousto-optical component for manipulating light passing therethrough, in particular for manipulating the illumination and/or detection light in the beam path of a microscope, preferably a laser scanning microscope, where the illumination and/or detection wavelength is adjusted by means of at least one frequency generator connected to the acousto-optical component and controlling the manipulation, the frequency generator generates a signal which generates a spectral spread for the intensity distribution of the wavelength of the illumination and/or detection light for ensuring a temperature-independent manipulation. Actuation is effected by two or more actuation signals in such a way that two or more overlapping and/or superposing main lobes of the transfer function of the acousto-optical component or main maxima are generated.
Method and Apparatus for Hyperspectral Imaging
A method and apparatus for the generation of hyperspectral images for an object consisting of a broad band light projection systems, a means of modulating the wavelength of the light, one or more sensors for observing the reflected light, one or more electronic means of synchronizing and extracting data from the sensor, one or more sensors for registering position, one or more calibration methods for rationalizing the data, and one or more algorithms for analyzing the data to produce the hyperspectral image.
Terahertz spectral imaging system and security surveillance system employing the same
A terahertz (THz) spectral imaging system includes a THz 2D imaging camera, a tunable THz bandpass filter before the THz camera, and a broadband THz light source. The tunable THz bandpass filter includes a visible or infrared laser source, a spatial light modulator modulating the light to generate a spatially structured light pattern, and a semiconductor plate onto which the light pattern is projected. The light pattern generates carriers in the semiconductor plate to turn it into a metamaterial THz bandpass filter, which is tunable by changing the light patterns. A controller controls the light patterns and the THz camera in a timing sequence to acquire multiple 2D THz images at different THz frequencies. Such THz spectral image data can be further combined with visible images and LiDAR images in a security surveillance system to automatically detect security threats using image fusion and deep learning techniques.

In particular, provided herein are high-throughput, automated partial wave spectroscopy (HT/A-PWS) instruments and systems capable of rapid acquisition of PWS Microscopic images and clinical, diagnostic, and research applications thereof.

Microscope with an acousto-optical device
The invention relates to a microscope having an acousto-optic apparatus (13) that, with a mechanical wave that is characterized by a preferably adjustable frequency, removes from a polychromatic and collinear detected light bundle (18) portions of illuminated light, scattered and/or reflected at a sample, having an illuminating light wavelength associated with the frequency. The microscope is notable for the fact that a crystal (30) of the acousto-optic apparatus in which the mechanical wave propagates, and the propagation direction of the mechanical wave, are oriented relative to the detected light bundle incident into the crystal in such a way that the acousto-optic apparatus deflects, with the mechanical wave, both the portion of the detected light bundle having the illuminating wavelength and a first linear polarization direction, and the portion of the detected light bundle having the illuminating wavelength and a second linear polarization direction perpendicular to the first polarization direction, and thereby removes them from the detected light bundle.
