In a spectroscopic module, a light shielding member is disposed between a plurality of bandpass filters and a light detector. The light shielding member includes a plurality of wall portions. The plurality of wall portions are arranged along an X direction with a light passage opening interposed therebetween, each of a plurality of optical paths from the plurality of bandpass filters to a plurality of light receiving regions passing through the light passage opening. A first wall portion and a second wall portion adjacent to each other among the plurality of wall portions are in contact with the bandpass filter, the bandpass filter corresponding to the light passage opening between the first wall portion and the second wall portion. A width in a Y direction of the light passage opening is larger than a width in the Y direction of the bandpass filter.

An analyte detection apparatus includes a radiation source for irradiating a sample and a receiver to receive an optical Raman spectrum of radiation transmitted back from the sample, the spectrum including one or more parts of significance to an analyte to be detected and one or more parts not of significance to an analyte to be detected. The receiver includes different types of analysis device each arranged to receive a selected part of the spectrum. The different types of analysis device include at least one analysis device having high resolution and/or high signal to noise ratio for detecting a part of the spectrum of significance to the analyte to be detected and at least one second type of analysis device which provides lower resolution and/or lower signal-to-noise ratio, for detecting a part of the spectrum not of significance to the analyte to be detected.

In some examples, a method may include receiving data representing an image, detecting a portion of the image associated with a unit of spatial translation relative to a reference, identifying a subset of pixels to be formed on the surface, and causing emission of a subset of pixel projectiles directed to impact a portion of a surface to form a replica of a portion of the image.

Electronic Device With Optical Sensor for Sampling Surfaces

A device such as a stylus may have a color sensor. The color sensor may have a color sensing light detector having a plurality of photodetectors each of which measures light for a different respective color channel. The color sensor may also have a light emitter. The light emitter may have an adjustable light spectrum. The light spectrum may be adjusted during color sensing measurements using information such as ambient light color measurements made with a color ambient light sensor that has a plurality of photodetectors each of which measures light for a different respective color channel. An inertial measurement unit may be used to measure the angular orientation between the stylus and an external object during color measurements. Arrangements in which the light emitter is modulated during color sensing may also be used. Measurements from the stylus may be transmitted wirelessly to external equipment.

An occupancy sensor covering a wide field in an integrated chip is disclosed. The occupancy sensor includes an array of grating coupled waveguide sensors wherein continuous wave (cw) signals monitor an ambient light field for dynamic changes on times scales of seconds, and high frequency signals map in three-dimensions of the space using time-of-flight (TOF) measurements, pixel level electronics that perform signal processing; array level electronics that perform additional signal processing; and communications and site level electronics that interface with actuators to respond to occupancy sensing.

Slit homogenizer for spectral imaging

A spectral imager (100) may use an entrance telescope (10) to spatially image an object (O1), at least in the across-slit direction (X), onto a physical slit (Se) of a spectrometer (20). The spectrometer (20) may include a slit homogenizer (24) such as a rod lens configured to spatially image an aperture stop (AS) in the across-slit direction (X) as a virtual slit image (Ih). Formation of a detection image (Id) which is spectrally resolved along a spectral axis (X′) may includes spatially imaging the virtual slit image (Ih), at least in the across-slit direction (X), at a detector plane (Pd). This may achieve a more homogeneous illumination of the spectrometer slit and improve measurement accuracy and reproducibility.

A spectrometer device includes a Fabry-Perot interferometer unit, which comprises a first carrier substrate, wherein the first carrier substrate is arranged on a lower side of the Fabry-Perot interferometer unit and includes an optical aperture. The spectrometer includes at least one of a first substrate, which is arranged on an upper side of the Fabry-Perot interferometer unit, which faces away from the lower side, and a second substrate with the first carrier substrate arranged with the lower side on the second substrate. The spectrometer further includes a photodetector device arranged on or in the at least one of the second substrate and the first substrate. A first electrical connection region of the photodetector device and a second electrical connection region of the Fabry-Perot interferometer unit are electrically contacted from the same direction.

A filter array includes filters disposed in a two-dimensional plane and having different transmission spectra. The filters include a first filter with a transmission spectrum having a first peak group including first and second peaks adjacent to each other, and at least one second filter with a transmission spectrum having a second peak group including third and fourth peaks adjacent to each other. Of peaks included in the second peak group, the third peak has a wavelength closest to a wavelength at the first peak. A first interval between the wavelength at the first peak and a wavelength at the second peak is different from a second interval between the wavelength at the third peak and a wavelength at the fourth peak. ΔFSR/σ≥0.25, where ΔFSR denotes an absolute value of a difference between the first and second intervals and σ denotes a half-width of the first peak.
