A method for estimating the temperature of a steel product including a calibration step wherein the intensities at 5 wavelengths ranging from 0.9 to 2.1 ?m are recorded for several measurement condition and spectral attenuation coefficients are computed, a measurement step wherein the intensities at said 5 wavelengths are recorded and spectral attenuation coefficients are computed for several temperatures and a comparison step wherein a probability test is performed to estimate the steel product temperature.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETECTING INCLUSIONS IN FLOAT GLASS
A method and/or system is provided for detecting inclusions (e.g., nickel sulfide based inclusions/defects) in soda-lime-silica based glass, such as float glass. In certain example instances, during and/or after the glass-making process, following the stage in the float process where the glass sheet is formed and floated on a molten material (e.g., tin bath) and cooled or allowed to cool such as via an annealing lehr, visible light from an intense visible light source(s) is directed at the resulting glass and thermal imaging is used to detect inclusions based on a temperature difference between the inclusions and surrounding float glass. In another example embodiment, inclusion detection may be performed without exposure of the glass to light from a light source(s). Inclusions and surrounding glass may cool at different rates and be at different temperatures just prior to and/or after an annealing lehr, and a difference in residual temperature between inclusions and surrounding glass may be detected via thermal imaging and identified to identify inclusion(s).
REAL TIME CORRECTION OF OPTICAL WINDOW THERMAL GRADIENTS
A thermal detection system for detecting a thermal profile of an optical window may be used in an airborne body that contains a sensor system. The system may include a thermal imager arranged within the airborne body for imaging a portion of the optical window and the portion may coincide with an optical path of the sensor system. The system may further include a processor in communication with the thermal imager for receiving images of the portion and determining a thermal gradient of the portion. The processor may be configured to apply corrections to active optical elements of the sensor system to accommodate for adverse thermal effects on the optical sensor that interferes with the sensor system performance.

Method For Temperature Measurements Of Surfaces With A Low, Unknown And/Or Variable Emissivity
Devices and corresponding methods can be provided to monitor or measure temperature of a target or to control a process. Targets can have low, unknown, or variable emissivity. Devices and corresponding methods can be used to measure temperatures of thin film, partially transparent, or opaque targets, as well as targets not filling a sensor's field of view. Temperature measurements can be made independent of emissivity of a target surface by, for example, inserting a target between a thermopile sensor and a background surface maintained at substantially the same temperature as the thermopile sensor. In embodiment devices and methods, a sensor temperature can be controlled to match a target temperature by minimizing or zeroing a net heat flux at the sensor, as derived from a sensor output signal. Alternatively, a target temperature can be controlled to minimize the heat flux.
Conveyor belt monitoring system and method
A conveyor belt temperature anomaly detection system, comprising: an infrared line scanner having one or more infrared detectors and arranged to scan the surface of a conveyor belt in a direction perpendicular to the direction of travel of the conveyor belt and to generate thermal image data in dependence on infrared radiation detected by the infrared detector; and a processing unit configured to process the thermal image data to identify temperature anomalies in the material travelling on the surface of the conveyor belt.
Arrangement and method for measuring the temperature of a web, as well as a method for performing the steps of the measuring the temperature
The present invention relates to an arrangement (1) for measuring the temperature of a web. The arrangement (1) comprises a plurality of sensors (3) for contactless measuring of the temperature, an elongated housing (5) intended for extending essentially along a transverse direction (T) which is transverse to the direction of movement of a web. The sensors (3) are arranged in a chamber (6) within the housing (5) and spread along the front side (7a) of the housing (5). Each sensor (3) is connected to a data bus (9) for providing information of the measured temperature to other systems and/or apparatuses. The sensors (3) are attached to a support structure (19) having at least one rotatable shaft (23) in the interior of the housing (7), and wherein the shaft (23) is arranged to rotate the support structure (19) such that the sensors (3) are displaced to a calibration and/or protection position away from the openings (11) for calibration and/or protection of the sensors (3). The invention also relates to a method for measuring the temperature of a web, a computer program, a computer readable medium and a control unit.
