A temperature sensor element includes: an element main body including a heat sensitive body including a thermistor sintered body of which the electrical characteristics change with temperature, and a pair of lead wires that is connected to the heat sensitive body through electrodes; and a protective layer that protects the heat sensitive body. The protective layer has an inner protective layer covering the heat sensitive body and an outer protective layer covering the outer side of the inner protective layer. The inner protective layer is formed of an aggregate of particles that are chemically stable with respect to the thermistor sintered body and made of non-metal.

Unit for high-temperature uses

A unit for high-temperature for uses above 700 C. is provided. The unit includes a housing and an electrical functional element. The functional element has a non-conducting substrate, an electrically conductive element, and at least one connection wire or pad. The functional element has a first section, a second section, and a third section. The first section is within the housing and shielded from a local environment. The second section includes the at least one connection wire or pad and is accessible externally to the housing. The third section is between the first and second sections and is embedded in an electrically insulating material. The insulating material seals off the housing from the functional element. A physical and/or chemical bond at an interface between the insulating material and the functional element.

The battery management system is configured to analyze the digital temperature data to assess internal temperature conditions of the battery cell.
