Disclosed herein are examples of a heating apparatus. In some embodiments, the heating apparatus is a battery powered heating apparatus suitable for burning or vaporizing a vaporizable material, such as an oil, wax, or liquid that when vaporized may be inhaled by a user. The heating apparatus includes a deployable element including a resistive element. In some embodiments, the heating apparatus has variable heat settings for the resistive element, controllable by the user through a user input (e.g., a button). In some embodiments, an indicator provides output communication to the user. The heating apparatus may include a power supply such as a rechargeable battery to supply power to the resistive element.

CARTRIDGE

A cartridge includes a body with a side wall and at least one lid arranged to cover a top or a bottom, or both. The cartridge comprises a cavity inside the body configured for receiving an aerosol-forming substrate. The lid includes an inner layer facing the cavity and an outer layer facing an outside of the body. The inner layer comprises a weakened region. When the outer layer is removed, the weakened region of the inner layer forms an aperture. The cavity is in fluid communication with an outside of the cartridge body via the formed aperture. The aerosol-forming substrate may include tobacco. The cartridge may be a shisha cartridge and the aerosol-forming substrate may be a shisha substrate, such as hookah tobacco.

HOOKAH DEVICE

Described is a hookah device. The hookah device includes a unique hookah head and consumable pod. The hookah head includes a bowl portion with a pod recess formed therein to receive a consumable pod. An electronic heating mechanism is positioned within the hookah head for heating the consumable pod. An air pathway is formed through the hookah head to introduce air into the consumable pod and direct smoke from the consumable pod into a hookah body. The consumable pod is similarly formed to fit within the hookah head. Further, the consumable pod includes a pod inlet and pod outlet for directing air through the pod and through the hookah device for inhalation.

A hookah and method for smoking a hookah are disclosed that permit more effective purging of “stale” wetted tobacco smoke from a hookah. The hookah includes a stem, bottle, and check valve in fluid communication with a dry smoke inlet of hookah. The valve is located in a ‘low’ position within the hookah for more effective use of positive pressure within the hookah for purging. The method includes purging wetted tobacco smoke through a valve that selectively leads to the dry smoke conduit.
