A thermocouple apparatus including a one-piece connector with a terminal header portion that defines a pair of openings on a front end, and a clam shell portion including a cap and a base connected on one side with a hinge to the cap. A pair of terminals are partially disposed within the pair of openings defined by the terminal header portion and extend into a cavity defined between the cap and the base. The pair of terminals may be a pair of prongs or may be a pair of receptacles. A pair of leads from a probe or a pair of leads that are part of an electrical connection to temperature measurement equipment extend through a lead wire opening and into the cavity. The cap clamps each one of the leads to one of the pair of terminals when the cap is in the closed position.

The present invention provides an automated system (100) for performing a cooling curve analysis for a plurality of quenchants wherein the system (100) comprises a quench probe (101) which is heated up to a maximum pre-defined temperature by an electric resistance furnace (102). Further, the quench probe (101) is automatically transferred and inserted into a quench vessel (107) after being heated to a maximum pre-defined temperature. The quench probe (101) is retained in the quench vessel (107) till the temperature of the quench probe (101) gradually decreases to a pre-defined minimum temperature as indicated by a Universal Serial Bus (USB) data logger (106) which logs the temperature of the quench probe (101) and indicates a graphical representation of the cooling curve analysis through the process automation tool installed on a computer hardware device.

A temperature sensor of a thermal monitoring system is provided for use in power distribution systems. The temperature sensor comprises ceramic printed circuit board (PCB) and a terminal. The ceramic PCB includes a temperature sensing element disposed on a side of the ceramic PCB. The terminal is configured to be fixed directly in contact with a measured point and is directly in touch with the ceramic PCB such that heat is conducted from the terminal, through the ceramic PCB and then to the temperature sensing element. The temperature sensing element is configured to generate an electrical signal in response to the heat such that the electrical signal is sent through a pair of lead wires to a controller for monitoring a temperature. The temperature sensor further comprises an epoxy to seal a portion of the terminal, the ceramic PCB in its entirety and a portion of the pair of lead wires to ensure a desired physical strength and a desired dielectric strength.
