09714872 · 2017-07-25 · ·

A solid thermal simulator sensing device, the device can simulate and sense the thermal characteristics of a perishable element and is easily calibrated to a verifiable standard. The device is fabricated from a single piece of solid material sized to have a thermal mass substantially equal to that of said perishable element. A sensing channel is located within the single piece of solid material. The sensing channel extends from one end towards the center. A temperature sensor is mounted within the sensing channel. The thermal response time of the device is slowed by the single piece of solid material to mimic the thermal properties of the perishable element. A calibration channel is extends from the outer surface of the device to a point adjacent the temperature sensor. A calibration probe may be inserted into the calibration channel to quickly verify the accuracy of the device.

Calibrating thermal behavior of electronics

A method includes determining a relationship between indirect thermal data for a processor and a measured temperature associated with the processor, during a calibration process, obtaining the indirect thermal data for the processor during actual operation of the processor, and determining an actual significant temperature associated with the processor during the actual operation using the indirect thermal data for the processor during actual operation of the processor and the relationship.

Problem

To estimate an accurate internal temperature of a secondary battery, regardless of the type and state of degradation of the secondary battery.

Solution

A secondary battery internal temperature estimation device (1) that estimates an internal temperature of a secondary battery (14), the device including: an estimation means (control unit (10)) that estimates an internal temperature of the secondary battery on the basis of a relational equation showing a relationship between an external temperature and the internal temperature of the secondary battery; a calculation means (control unit (10)) that calculates element values of an equivalent circuit of the secondary battery; a determination means (control unit (10)) that determines a coefficient of the relational equation on the basis of the element values of the equivalent circuit calculated by the calculation means; and an application means (control unit (10)) that applies the coefficient obtained by the determination means to the relational equation; wherein the estimation means estimates the internal temperature of the secondary battery on the basis of the relational equation to which the coefficient has been applied by the application means.

A method and a system enables a temperature to which a component within a turbomachine was exposed, to be determined. The method includes operating the turbomachine including the component for an elapsed period of time, determining a thickness of an oxide layer that has formed on a coupon attached to the component, and determining a temperature offset based on the thickness measurement of the oxide layer. The method also includes determining the temperature to which the component was exposed using the temperature offset, and outputting the temperature to which the component was exposed.
