Systems and methods for measuring loads applied to downhole structures
A load measurement sub for measuring a load transferred between the sub and an inner surface of a tubing string includes a housing. The housing includes a central axis, an internal cavity, and a radially outermost surface. In addition, the load measurement sub includes a first load measurement assembly at least partially disposed within a first port extending from the radially outermost surface to the internal cavity. The first load measurement assembly includes a first button extending radially from the first port and the radially outermost surface of the housing. The first load measurement assembly also includes a first load cell. Further, the load measurement sub includes a first biasing member disposed between the first button and the first load cell. The first biasing member is configured to bias the first button away from the first load cell.
System and Method of Testing the Tension of Anchors in a Dam
Systems and methods of determining a tension of an anchor embedded in a dam are described. A dynamic impulse response of the dam is empirically obtained in such that a portion of the empirical dynamic impulse response is dominated by a dynamic behavior of the anchor. Furthermore, a set of modeled impulse responses that map to a set of tension values for the anchor are obtained. Next, a closest matching modeled impulse response from the set of modeled impulse responses that is a closest match to the portion of the empirical dynamic impulse response that is dominated by the dynamic behavior of the anchor is determined. Finally, a tension value from the set of tension values is selected, which is the closest match to the portion of the dynamic impulse response dominated by the dynamic behavior of the anchor. As such, the tension value of the anchor can be determined.
Bond test apparatus and method
A bond test apparatus comprises a test tool assembly 200 comprising a test tool 40 configured to contact a bond during a bond test, a flexure 80 coupled to the test tool assembly, and a sensor. The sensor is configured to provide a measurement of a displacement of a first end of the flexure 80 relative to a second end of the flexure on application of a force to the flexure, and a processor is configured to receive a displacement signal from the sensor and, based on the displacement signal and optionally a known stiffness of the flexure, to determine the force on the flexure. A cartridge for a bond test apparatus, a method of measuring a force in a bond test apparatus, and a method of measuring the closing force on the jaws of a bond test tool are also provided.
NUT AND BOLT TIGHTENING METHOD AND TIGHTENING DEVICE
Provided is a nut and a bolt tightening method for fastening an object, wherein a tightening force is applied on the object by rotating a nut or a bolt in a state in which a predetermined tension force is applied on the bolt in the axial direction of the bolt. When the tensile force exerted on the bolt decreases as the tightening force increases and after a timing when an inflection point occurs in a time course change in a ratio of an amount of change in the tensile force exerted on the bolt to an amount of change in an angle of rotation of the nut or the bolt, the tightening resulting from the rotation of the nut or bolt is terminated and the tensile force applied on the bolt is removed.
Homing mechanism for automated footwear platform
A homing mechanism within a drive mechanism of a lacing engine for an automated footwear platform can include an indexing wheel, a plurality of Geneva teeth and a stop tooth. The plurality of Geneva teeth can be distributed around a portion of a perimeter of the indexing wheel. Each Geneva tooth of the plurality of Geneva teeth can include side profiles conforming to a first side profile that generates a first force when engaged by an index tooth on a portion of the drive mechanism. The stop tooth can be located along the perimeter of the indexing wheel between two Geneva teeth. Additionally, the stop tooth can include side profiles conforming to a second side profile that generates a second force when engaged by the index tooth.
Apparatus and method for measuring force on weight distribution hitches
A trailer force measurement system includes a tow hitch, a hitch mount connected to the tow hitch and a spring bar connected to the hitch mount. The trailer force measurement system also includes a trailer having a frame, where the spring bar is connected to the trailer frame via a bracket. A hitch coupler is then connected to the trailer frame and configured to releasably couple the trailer frame to the hitch mount. A force measurement device is then disposed on the bracket and configured to measure force exerted on the bracket by the spring bar.
Structural unit for a linear actuator
A structural unit, in particular a spindle unit, for a linear actuator which has at least one structural unit. The structural unit transmits data by way of electromagnetic radiation and/or it is configured to wirelessly absorb energy and then electrically supply at least one electrical load with wirelessly absorbed energy.
Roller Bearing Testing Device and Method
A test device for testing a tested article selected from the group of a loaded shaft and/or loaded bearings has a stationary crossbar with a load applicator movable relative thereto. The load applicator can be a threaded shaft which, when twisted, can selectively apply a load to the tested article. A sensor, such as a strain gage, can sense the applied load which is directed to a pulley and belt which connects to the tested article. As the tested article is rotated, the load can be applied and sensed and preferably displayed.
Rowing power measurement
An oarlock-installation for a boat in which an oarlock is mounted on an upright pin for angular displacement about the pin during rowing of the boat, the oarlock-installation comprising a mechanism for deriving measurements of angular displacement of the oarlock from a datum angle about the pin during the rowing, a mechanism for deriving measurements of force exerted on the oarlock during the rowing, and a mechanism for deriving measurement of rowing power from the measurements of force and the measurements of angular displacement. The rowing-boat oarlock-installation may also comprises a power module, attached to the oarlock, which is responsive to rowing of the rowing-boat to derive force measurements in accordance with rowing forces exerted on the power module during the rowing.
