Ball mount for measuring tongue weight of a trailer
10625547 · 2020-04-21 · ·

A ball mount for measuring tongue weight of a trailer is disclosed. The ball mount can comprise a ball portion for interfacing with a ball configured to couple with a tongue of a trailer, a hitch portion for interfacing with a hitch receiver associated with a vehicle, and a load measurement device associated with the hitch portion. The hitch portion can be configured to pivot relative to the hitch receiver about a fulcrum in response to a downward force on the ball, with the hitch receiver resisting rotation of the hitch portion about the fulcrum thereby inducing a load on the hitch portion. The load measurement device can be configured to determine a magnitude of the downward force on the ball based on the load on the hitch portion.

A method for the visual inspection of the existence of pressure within a branch line of pipes includes locating the run of pipes, coupling a mechanical tee to a first pipe so as to form a branch in the run of pipes wherein the mechanical tee has a pressure indicator, pressurizing the run of pipes, and checking the pressure indicator for an indication of pressure within the run of pipes. The mechanical tee includes a collar portion configured to extend around a pipe. A neck portion is coupled to the collar portion. The channel of the neck portion is in fluid communication with the interior of the pipe. A pressure indicating device is in fluid communication with the channel to provide a visual indication of the pressure level. The pressure indicating device may include electrical contacts to communicate with a monitoring system.

A differential pressure gauge for measuring a difference in pressure present between a low pressure portion of a fluid and a high pressure portion of the fluid includes a cylinder and a housing. The cylinder includes an opening. The housing includes an opening. A piston extends from a first end having a visual indicator to a second end having a remote indicator. The first end of the piston is in fluid communication with the high pressure portion of the fluid and the second end of the piston is in fluid communication with the low pressure portion of the fluid. A sensor is configured to sense a presence of the remote indicator when the remote indicator is within a sensing range of the sensor. The sensor is coupled to a sensor positioning mechanism for adjusting a position of the sensor with respect to the axial direction of the housing.

A pressure indicator includes a body, a piston, first and second biasing elements, and a rotatable disc. The piston is disposed at least partially in a bore of the body at a first longitudinal axial position relative to the body when pressure of fluid acting on the base is below a threshold pressure. The first biasing element is disposed between a base of the piston and a shoulder of the body, wherein a force of the first biasing element is overcome by pressure of fluid acting on the base at or above the threshold pressure, thereby allowing the piston to move to a second longitudinal axial position. The rotatable disc has a first rotational position when the piston is in the first axial position. The second biasing element is configured to urge the disc to a second rotational position when the piston is in the second axial position.

Pressure indicating device
