Detecting contamination of a pressure sensor based on cross-sensitivity to acceleration
A contamination detector device may compute a cross-sensitivity of a pressure sensor based on an amount of pressure change sensed by the pressure sensor and an amount of acceleration change sensed by an acceleration sensor. The cross-sensitivity of the pressure sensor indicates a measure of sensitivity of the pressure sensor to acceleration. The contamination detector device may determine, based on the cross-sensitivity of the pressure sensor, whether the pressure sensor is contaminated. The contamination detector device may selectively perform a contamination action based on whether the pressure sensor is contaminated.
HIGH PRESSURE CAPSULE AND HEADER FOR PROCESS FLUID PRESSURE TRANSMITTER
A pressure capsule/header assembly for a process fluid pressure transmitter is provided. An isolator plug has an isolation diaphragm at a first end thereof and a second end spaced from the first end. The isolator plug has a fill fluid passageway fluidically coupling the first end to the second end. A header has a first end configured to carry a pressure sensor and a second end spaced from the first end. The header has at least one electrical interconnect extending from the first end to the second end. A biaxial support ring is disposed about an outer surface of the header. The biaxial support ring and the header define a tapered interference interface therebetween. The header is welded to the isolator plug at a first weld and the biaxial support ring is welded to the isolator plug at a location that is spaced from the second end of the header.
Electroactive polymer sensors and sensing methods
The invention provides an electroactive material (preferably electroactive polymer) sensor system, comprising an electroactive material sensor (22) and a control system (28) for performing measurements relating to the impedance of the electroactive material sensor at at least first and second different frequencies. From these measurements a temperature at the sensor and an external pressure or force applied to the sensor can be determined. The sensor can thus be used as a pressure sensor and as a temperature sensor. When used in combination with actuation, an electroactive material actuator with integrated temperature sensing functionality is able to measure the temperature at the exact actuator position, which is always closer than an external thermocouple.

Blast wave detector
Embodiments of the invention include devices, systems and methods for operating a pressure wave detector. Embodiments include attaching a plurality of members and a ground plate to a substrate, and coupling the ground plate with the plurality of members attached to the substrate. Embodiments also include measuring a pressure wave by at least one of the plurality of members, converting the pressure wave into an electrical signal representing the pressure wave, and monitoring the pressure wave over a configurable period of time.

The present disclosure includes a pressure transducer comprising: a frame; a cantilevered beam; a resilient beam portion; a signal processing circuit; a wiring terminal; and a support member. The resilient beam portion anchors the cantilevered beam to the frame. The cantilevered beam moves in response to a pressure-induced force applied to the cantilevered beam and the resilient beam portion bends producing a strain within the resilient beam portion. The support member comprises a cavity and the signal processing circuit is entirely installed inside the cavity. There is a strain gauge diffused into, implanted into, and/or affixed to the resilient beam portion. The cavity of the support member includes a first aperture disposed along the first surface of the support member and the inner surface of the frame covers the first aperture.
