Tachometer signal jitter reduction system and method
Assessing and removing jitter from tachometer signals enhances the performance of condition monitoring systems where accurate tachometer signals are needed. A system as disclosed herein can be designed and configured to have a low order of operations, so as to allow for implementation on low cost microcontrollers, which can be important for bused, distributed monitoring systems in which the tachometer zero crossing data is collected at a tachometer sensor and then broadcast to other remote sensors needing that information for vibration or other advanced analysis. Moreover, for monolithic architecture systems (e.g., a centralized processing and control architecture), the low order of operation and small software code base allows the system to be a simple/low cost addition to existing monitoring systems.

Tire Uniformity Improvement Through Identification of a Composite Uniformity Parameter Using Multivariate Normal Distributions
Methods and systems for improving the uniformity of a tire are provided. More specifically, one or more characteristics of a composite uniformity parameter can be determined from uniformity summary data (e.g. uniformity vectors) associated with a plurality of harmonics of the composite uniformity parameter. For instance, a peak to peak range of a composite uniformity parameter and/or a distribution of amplitudes of a composite uniformity parameter for a set of tires can be determined from uniformity vectors associated with selected harmonics of the composite uniformity parameter. According to example aspects of the present disclosure, the one or more characteristics of the composite uniformity parameter can be determined using multivariate normal distributions (e.g. bivariate normal distributions) of the uniformity summary data. Once identified, the one or more characteristics can be used to modify tire manufacture to improve tire uniformity.
Methods for monitoring load balance in washing machine appliances
Methods for monitoring load balance in washing machine appliances, and washing machine appliances, are provided. A method includes accelerating rotation of a basket about a central axis within a tub of the washing machine appliance from a first speed to a second speed greater than the first speed. The method further includes detecting a plurality of speed changes during the accelerating step, and summing absolute values of speed differences for each of the plurality of detected speed changes to obtain an unfolded speed value.

Tire changer with actuated load roller
A tire changer with a controller includes a with a mount assembly adapted for contacting a wheel assembly to mount the wheel to a rotating spindle. The tire changer controller is configured to regulate the operation of a motor, and which is operatively connected to the rotating spindle to rotate the wheel assembly. A sensor coupled to the controller provides a data representative of the rotational position of the wheel assembly about a rotational axis. The controller is further configured to engage a load roller with the wheel assembly to apply a radial force to a tire mounted on a rim of the wheel assembly during rotation of the wheel, and to regulate the operation of a tire handling means and mount assembly, enabling identification, optional marking, and adjustment of the tire angular mounting position relative to the wheel rim.
METHOD AND MACHINE FOR BALANCING A VEHICLE WHEEL
A method for balancing a vehicle wheel includes mounting a wheel to be balanced on a rotating shaft of a machine computerized for measuring imbalances, and selecting an optimum commercial balancing weight which, when positioned on a correction plane, minimizes residual imbalance on reference planes of the wheel where the balancing tolerance is considered. One compares the residual imbalance value at the reference planes with the prescribed balancing tolerance after subtracting a vector of the static imbalance generated by the optimum balancing weight. An indicator device is activated to indicate on the wheel the optimum axial position of a correction plane for a balancing weight where the residual imbalance at the reference planes is within tolerance.

Determining Out of Balance Conditions of a Washing Machine
Systems and methods for determining an out of balance condition of a washing machine are provided. In particular, a plurality of angular positions of a motor associated with a washing machine can be determined. The washing machine can include a wash tub, and a wash basket rotatably mounted within the wash tub. The motor is configured to rotate the wash basket within said wash tub. Data indicative of at least a single phase of motor current being applied to the motor can be obtained while the wash basket rotates. The data can be spatially sampled over at least a subset of the plurality of angular positions of the motor. An out of balance condition associated with the washing machine can be determined based at least in part on the sampled data.
