Process for rapidly measuring coefficient of moisture expansion (CME) values for materials
Processes for rapidly and accurately measuring the coefficient of moisture expansion for materials, such as adhesives, are disclosed. A replication technique may be used to manufacture highly flat and smooth adhesive samples. Moisture is introduced in a controlled humidity atmosphere, distortion is monitored with an accurate laser interferometer (e.g., ?1 nanometer (nm) accuracy), and measurements are correlated with moisture content change. Such processes decrease sample size by three orders of magnitude as compared with conventional techniques and have a smaller adhesive mass requirement, which enables measurement of expensive microelectronic adhesives that were previously cost-prohibitive to measure. Also, thinner films allow CME measurements of ultraviolet (UV) cured adhesives that would otherwise have depth of penetration issues. Furthermore, saturation occurs quickly, allowing pre-stabilization at room temperature, which enabled parametric studies as a function of processing or cure state. Additionally, testing occurs within hours versus months, enabling short lead times for root-cause investigations.
Access port for a thermogravimetric analyzer furnace
The analyzer of the present invention is specifically adapted to provide moisture determinations for foods and other agricultural material. It allows the operator to introduce a precise weight of sample into a crucible in a closed furnace in a controlled environment through an access port in the furnace cover. The access port in the cover can be tapered to allow easy access to an underlying aligned crucible and allow an operator to add and remove sample material from the crucible until a precise desired sample weight is reached as measured by a balance within the furnace. The access port is enclosed by an insulated cover after the samples are sequentially placed in the crucibles.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETERMINING PROPERTIES OF HYGROSCOPIC MATERIAL IN REAL-TIME DURING MODIFICATION
The invention relates to a method for determining properties of hygroscopic material in real-time during modification wherein, in the method, pieces of hygroscopic material to be modified are stacked and a batch of the hygroscopic material (15) being thereby formed is placed in a modification chamber (11) of a modification apparatus (10) wherein the pieces of the hygroscopic material to be modified are modified. In the method according to the invention at least weight, volume, amount of water in the batch of the hygroscopic material as well as average moisture content of the batch of the hygroscopic material (15) are determined before modification and/or at least once during and/or after modification of the batch of the hygroscopic material (15). The invention relates also to an apparatus for determining properties of hygroscopic material in real-time during modification of the batch of the hygroscopic material (15).
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR VALIDATING THE OPERATION OF A PPM ANALYZER
A system comprising a parts-per-million (PPM) analyzer configured to analyze a multiphase fluid, the fluid comprising water. The analyzer includes a mesh comprising first adsorbent materials that adsorb specific substances from the multiphase fluid. The system includes a mass meter configured to measure a mass of multiphase fluid passing through the PPM analyzer; a molecular sieve dryer comprising second adsorbent material configured to adsorb the water from the multiphase fluid; and a plurality of valves configured to couple the mass meter and the molecular sieve dryer to the PPM analyzer. During routine operation, the valves direct the multiphase fluid through the PPM analyzer. During a validation operation, the valves divert the multiphase fluid through the molecular sieve dryer prior to entering the PPM analyzer.
PLANT STEM, TREE BRANCH OR TRUNK MOISTURE PROBE
A moisture probe or sensor including an attachment element configured for attachment to a plant, bush or tree to determine a moisture content of the plant bush or tree. The moisture probe including a transceiver configured to transmit a moisture signal indicative of the moisture content of the plant, tree or plant.
Radiation survey process
A method for determining a radionuclide concentration of a material is provided. The method comprises placing a detector in a protective structure, wherein the detector is coupled to a single-channel analyzer. The method further comprises inserting the protective structure in a material, wherein the material comprises a radionuclide. The method additionally comprises measuring the moisture content of the material to be analyzed. The method also comprises counting the emitted radiation having a known energy over an interval of time to produce a count per time, wherein the emitted radiation is emitted from the radionuclide and then dividing the count per time by the weight of the material to produce a count per time per weight.
ORALLY DISINTEGRATING TABLET EVALUATING METHOD, AND ORALLY DISINTEGRATING TABLET EVALUATING DEVICE
Provided is an orally disintegrating tablet evaluating method includes: measuring the mass of tablet; placing the tablet on a preparation placement surface of a test solution supply unit; measuring a water absorption time for a test solution to penetrate from one end of the tablet in contact with the surface to the other end of the tablet; measuring the mass of the tablet for which the time for the solution to penetrate has been measured; and calculating the water absorption rate of the tablet by the following formula (1); wherein the tablet is evaluated based on a water absorption rate of the tablet of 0.004 g/sec:
water absorption rate of tablet=(mass of tablet after measurement of time for solution to penetrate?mass of tablet before measurement of time for solution to penetrate)/(time for solution to penetrate from one end to other end) (1).
