Provided are a testing apparatus for a pile end settlement of a rock-socketed driven PHC tube pile and an installation method thereof. The testing apparatus comprises a PHC tube pile, two measuring tubes, a cross pile tip, a pile tip steel plate, a fixer fixed in the PHC tube pile, a perforated steel plate located at a pile top of the PHC tube pile and a jack pressed on the perforated steel plate. The two measuring tubes are symmetrically arranged, the fixer is provided with two first measuring tube outlet holes, and the two measuring tubes respectively pass through the first measuring tube outlet holes of the fixer; and the perforated steel plate is also provided with two second measuring tube outlet holes, and the two measuring tubes respectively pass through the second measuring tube outlet holes of the perforated steel plate. A method for determining stress-dependent permeability includes providing a core sample in a pressurized core container of a testing apparatus and generating a steady-state flow of gas from an upstream reservoir in the testing apparatus along an axial direction through the pressurized core container into a downstream reservoir in the testing apparatus. During the steady-state flow, an inlet pressure at an inlet to the core sample, an outlet pressure at an outlet of the core sample, and a midpoint pressure at a midpoint of the core sample are measured. The stress-dependent permeability is calculated from a flow rate of the gas through the core sample and the measurements of the inlet pressure, the outlet pressure, and the midpoint pressure.

A method for estimating in-situ porosity based on cutting images employs a neural network trained with labeled images, the labels indicating wireline porosity values. The method may be used to obtain porosity values along a vertical, deviated or horizontal well, where wireline logging data is not available or unreliable. The method uses machine learning. Training and validating the neural network may be ongoing processes in the sense that any new labeled image that becomes available can be added to the training set and the neural network being retrained to enhance its predictive performance.
