Systems and Methods for Testing the Integrity of a Virus Removal Filter
A single-use valve arrangement that includes a valve housing, a diaphragm carried by the valve housing, a pressure sensor, and a controller coupled to the pressure sensor. The valve housing defines an inlet and an outlet, the inlet adapted to be fluidly connected to an outlet of a virus removal filter. The diaphragm divides the valve housing into a first chamber and a second chamber fluidly isolated from the first chamber. The pressure sensor is configured to measure a pressure change in the second chamber due to movement of the diaphragm responsive to a pressure change in the first chamber. The controller is configured to determine an actual leak rate of the filter based on the measured pressure change, the controller further configured to determine the integrity of the filter by comparing the actual leak rate to an expected leak rate of the filter.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MEMBRANE BLOCKAGE DETECTION IN GAS DETECTORS
Methods and systems for detecting membrane blockage in a gas detector are disclosed. In some embodiments, the gas detector comprises a membrane configured to define a sensing chamber of the gas detector. The gas detector further comprises a strain sensor operatively connected to the membrane, the strain sensor configured for generating output signals related to strain in the membrane. The gas detector comprises a controller operatively connected to the strain sensor. The controller is configured to: determine a strain in the membrane based on the output signals; and determine a condition of the membrane based on the determined strain, wherein the determined condition indicates whether the membrane is blocked.
Methods and apparatus for determining the spatial distribution of materials using electromagnetic radiation
An apparatus for determining the spatial distribution of materials within a sample using electromagnetic waves. The apparatus probes a sample with electromagnetic waves, measures the response, and determines the spatial configuration based on the measured response.
Fabricating calcite nanofluidic channels
A method for fabricating calcite channels in a nanofluidic device is described. A porous membrane is attached to a substrate. Calcite is deposited in porous openings in the porous membrane attached to the substrate. A width of openings in the deposited calcite is in a range from 50 to 100 nanometers (nm). The porous membrane is etched to remove the porous membrane from the substrate to form a fabricated calcite channel structure. Each channel has a width in the range from 50 to 100 nm.
Inspection method for pillar-shaped honeycomb filter
An inspection method for a pillar-shaped honeycomb filter having a honeycomb-shaped first end face and a honeycomb-shaped second end face, including: allowing gas containing fine particles to flow into the first end face; imaging the entire second end face covered with the sheet-like light using a camera while the gas that has flowed into the first end face flows out of the second end face through the filter, and generating an image of the entire second end face covered with the sheet-like light; selecting an inspection area of the second end face and measuring information concerning a sum of luminance of all pixels in the inspection area; and determining quality of the filter based on at least the information concerning the concentration of the fine particles in the gas before the gas flows into the first end face and the information concerning the sum of luminance.

Syringe with PECVD lubrication
A syringe or other vessel having a substrate surface coated by PECVD is provided. The PECVD coating is made by generating plasma from a gaseous reactant comprising an organosilicon precursor and optionally O.sub.2. The lubricity, hydrophobicity and/or barrier properties of the coating are set by setting the ratio of the O.sub.2 to the organosilicon precursor in the gaseous reactant, and/or by setting the electric power used for generating the plasma. In particular, a lubricity coating made by said method is provided. Vessels coated by said method and the use of such vessels protecting a compound or composition contained or received in said coated vessel against mechanical and/or chemical effects of the surface of the uncoated vessel material are also provided.
