DETERMINATION OF ANTIMICROBIAL SUSCEPTIBILITY BY POPULATION PROFILING OF MICROBIAL CULTURES
Systems and Methods for determining response of microbe cultures to antimicrobials by measuring properties of individual microbes and/or other culture particles. Methods include incubating microbes in liquid cultures which may contain antimicrobials and growth media, detecting individual microbes and particles, and measuring their properties, which may include the mass of individual microbes and particles. Measurement data, such as masses of a plurality of individual microbes or particles, may be collected after an incubation duration. These data may be analyzed to determine susceptibility of microbes to one or more antibiotics. Measurement may be performed after incubation durations shorter than required to produce growth by microbe replication, and analysis may include assessment of metrics other than the growth of the culture. The method enables measurement of susceptibility at earlier times than needed for sufficient microbe replication required by many existing techniques enabling accurate results with relatively minimal sample volumes of a culture.
PARTICLE ANALYSIS DEVICE, PARTICLE ANALYSIS SYSTEM, AND PARTICLE ANALYSIS METHOD
A particle analysis device includes: an acquiring unit to acquire a multi-viewpoint image obtained by synthesizing captured images of a lens array on which an image of light from a particle irradiated with light are formed via a main lens, the captured images being captured simultaneously from mutually different viewpoints by a plurality of cameras; a sensing unit to sense a light intensity pattern of scattered light scattered from the particle on the basis of the multi-viewpoint image acquired; an analyzing unit to analyze a scattering solid angle of scattered light relative to an optical axis of the main lens as a center on the basis of the light intensity pattern of the scattered light sensed; and a calculating unit to calculate a molecular weight and particle size of the particle on the basis of the scattering solid angle of the scattered light analyzed.
CELLULAR MEASUREMENT, CALIBRATION, AND CLASSIFICATION
The invention provides devices and methods for linked multimodal measurements of individual particles using a mass sensor and an additional sensor.
Rapid analysis of live cells
A method of rapid functional analysis of cells is provided. A body fluid sample is introduced into a reservoir of a measurement instrument. A living cell is loaded directly from the body fluid sample into a channel of the measurement instrument in the absence of long-term cell culturing, cell passaging, and application of long-term drug pressure to cells. A functional biomarker of the living cells is measured while the living cell flows through the channel. The functional biomarker measured may be mass accumulation rate (MAR) or mass change. The measurement instrument may be a suspended microchannel resonator (SMR).
