Photoacoustic imaging device and oxygen saturation measurement method

Provided is a photoacoustic imaging device including: a light source unit which generates an ultra-broadband pulsed laser beam and outputs the ultra-broadband pulsed laser beam; a filter unit which filters narrowband pulsed laser beams having predetermined different wavelength bands from the ultra-broadband pulsed laser beam to selectively extract the narrowband pulsed laser beams and outputs the narrowband pulsed laser beams as pulsed laser beams for photoacoustic imaging; and a PA (photoacoustic) unit which receives the pulsed laser beams for photoacoustic imaging to irradiate a measurement object with the pulsed laser beams for photoacoustic imaging and receives photoacoustic signals generated from the measurement object.

Opto-acoustic measurement of a transparent film stack

A non-destructive opto-acoustic metrology device detects the presence and location of non-uniformities in a film stack that includes a large number, e.g., 50 or more, transparent layers. A transducer layer at the bottom of the film stack produces an acoustic wave in response to an excitation beam. A probe beam is reflected from the layer interfaces of the film stack and the acoustic wave to produce an interference signal that encodes data in a time domain from destructive and constructive interference as the acoustic wave propagates upward in the film stack. The data may be analyzed across the time domain to determine the presence and location of one or more non-uniformities in the film stack. An acoustic metrology target may be produced with a transducer layer configured to generate an acoustic wave with a desired acoustic profile based on characteristics of the film stack.

A photoacoustic flow cytometry (PAFC) device for the in vivo detection of cells circulating in blood or lymphatic vessels is described. Ultrasound transducers attached to the skin of an organism detect the photoacoustic ultrasound waves emitted by target objects in response to their illumination by at least one pulse of laser energy delivered using at least one wavelength. The wavelengths of the laser light pulse may be varied to optimize the absorption of the laser energy by the target object. Target objects detected by the device may be unlabelled biological cells or cell products, contrast agents, or biological cells labeled with one or more contrast agents.

COMPACT PHOTOACOUSTIC DETECTION DEVICE

The invention relates to a device for detecting a gaseous species by photoacoustic effect. The device comprises a substrate, inside which a cavity is formed. A light source is disposed on the substrate, in such a way that a part of the substrate extends between the light source and the cavity. The device is arranged in such a way that the light, emitted by the light source, is propagated through the substrate, before reaching the cavity.

Dual wavelength imaging and out of sample optical imaging

A first signal is generated with a first light detector in response to an ultrasound signal encountering a first measurement beam. A second signal is generated with a second light detector in response to the ultrasound signal encountering a second measurement beam. The second measurement beam propagates through the sample and the first measurement beam propagates outside the sample.

Methods and devices are disclosed for the imaging of a biological sample from all rotational perspectives in three-dimensional space and with multiple imaging modalities. A biological sample is positioned on an imaging stage that is capable of full 360-degree rotation in at least one of two orthogonal axes. Positioned about the stage are imaging modules enabling the recording of a series of images in multiple modalities, including reflected visible light, fluorescence, X-ray, ultrasound, and optical coherence tomography. A computer can use the images to construct three-dimensional models of the sample and to render images of the sample conveying information from one or more imaging channels. The rendered images can be displayed for an operator who can manipulate the images to present additional information or viewing angles of the sample. The image manipulation can be with touch gestures entered using a sterilizable or disposable touch pen.
