The invention relates to a method for illuminating a wood fibre web for deviation detection. The method comprises turning on LEDs of an overhead sidelight that are side-directed towards a first edge of the web for illuminating a first half of width of the web, capturing an image of the first half, turning off the LEDs, turning on LEDs of the overhead sidelight that are side-directed towards a second edge of the web for illuminating a second half of width of the web, capturing an image of the second half, and turning off the LEDs. The invention also relates to an overhead sidelight, a machine vision system, and a lighting system.
OPTICAL FIBER INSPECTING DEVICE, OPTICAL FIBER MANUFACTURING APPARATUS, METHOD FOR INSPECTING OPTICAL FIBER, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING OPTICAL FIBER
An optical fiber inspecting device is disclosed. The optical fiber inspecting device includes a first light-emitting unit that irradiates an optical fiber with a first light beam, the optical fiber including a glass fiber and a coating resin and moving in an axial direction, and a first light-receiving unit that receives scattered light resulting from the first light beam scattered in the optical fiber, and converts the scattered light to an electrical signal. An optical axis of the first light-receiving unit passes through an irradiation position where the first light beam strikes the optical fiber, and the first light beam and the optical axis of the first light-receiving unit diagonally intersect each other, thereby preventing the first light beam from directly entering the first light-receiving unit.
WOOD MATERIAL PANEL PRESSING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MONITORING A WOOD MATERIAL PANEL PRESSING DEVICE
The disclosure relates to a wood material panel pressing device for pressing a fibrous press cake in order to produce a wood material panel including an inspection device that is designed to emit a signal in the event of a disruption. According to the disclosure, the wood material panel pressing device for pressing a fibrous press cake for producing an HDF panel or an MDF panel includes: an inspection device, which is designed to emit a signal in an event of a disruption, wherein: the inspection device has a camera and an evaluation unit, the camera is arranged in an intake region of the wood material panel pressing device; and the evaluation unit automatically emits a signal in an event of a blow-out of press cake particles.
Optical fiber inspecting device, optical fiber manufacturing apparatus, method for inspecting optical fiber, and method for manufacturing optical fiber

High resolution photoacoustic imaging in scattering media using structured illumination
A method for high resolution photoacoustic imaging in scattering media using structured illumination may include illuminating a sample of an absorption object with structured illumination, including illuminating the sample with multiple different speckle patterns at different times. The method may also include detecting multiple photoacoustic signals generated by the absorption object in response to illumination with the different speckle patterns to generate multiple photoacoustic responses. The method may also include reconstructing an absorber distribution of the absorption object by exploiting joint sparsity of sound sources in the plurality of photoacoustic responses.
IDENTIFICATION OF CARPET MATERIALS WITH NEAR-INFRARED SPECTROSCOPY
A method for identifying carpet materials includes receiving, by a controller coupled to an NIR spectrometer, a predetermined number of NIR measurements of a sample of the carpet material conducted over a bandwidth of a subset of a full NIR spectrum. The NIR spectrometer performs the NIR measurements under control of the controller. Also, sending the NTR measurements to a remote identification server including a spectra library of known carpet materials. The method also includes receiving a matching result from the remote identification server, sending the matching result to a remote appraisal server, and receiving an appraised value of the carpet material.
Cellulose acetate tow bands and filters with surface markings
Disclosed are acetate tow bands comprising identification fibers made of cellulose acetate which exhibit surface markings in a repeated pattern along the length of the identification fibers. The identification fibers can be incorporated into an acetate tow band. The surface markings and repeated pattern can be representative of a bale identifier. The identification fibers can be recovered from a cigarette filter, the repeated pattern decoded, and supply chain information associated with the acetate tow band used to make the cigarette filter can be obtained.
Method for in-line analysis of a composite product in a machine for the production of absorbent sanitary articles
A method for in-line analysis of a composite product, wherein a hyperspectral sensor is used to acquire images of samples of target materials that are part of the composite product, in order to perform an in-line optical inspection at process speed.
System for managing hair condition information and method for optimizing a cosmetic consultation system
Systems for managing hair condition information and methods for optimizing a cosmetic counseling system are provided. In an embodiment, the system comprises: a sensor for determining an item of hair condition information for a user, a memory configured to store the item of hair condition information, and a processor configured to update at least one item of hair condition information in the memory based on a discrepancy between an item of hair condition information for a user determined by using the sensor after a hair treatment and a predicted item of hair condition information for the user.
METHOD FOR EVALUATING CELLULOSE NANOFIBER DISPERSION, CELLULOSE NANOFIBER AQUEOUS DISPERSION, AND CELLULOSE NANOFIBER-CONTAINING FOOD, COSMETIC, AND RUBBER COMPOSITION
Provided is method for evaluating a cellulose nanofiber (CNF) dispersion, the method including: (1) a step of preparing 1.0 mass% of a CNF aqueous dispersion; (2) a step of adding a coloring material into the CNF aqueous solution and stirring with a vortex mixer; (3) a step of sandwiching a film of the coloring material-containing CNF aqueous dispersion between two glass plates such that said film has a thickness of 0.15 mm; (4) a step of observing, with a microscope, the film of the coloring material-containing CNF aqueous dispersion sandwiched between the two glass plates; (5) a step of sorting observed aggregates by size (diameter along major axis) thereof; and (6) a step of calculating a CNF dispersion index from the number of sorted aggregates and evaluating the dispersibility of the CNF aqueous dispersion.
