Detector arrangement, detection system and method of processing data from a detector arrangement for high throughput data handling
The invention relates to a detection arrangement, a detection system comprising said arrangement, and a method of processing data from said arrangement. The detector arrangement disclosed comprises at least one array of detectors, wherein the detectors are configured to detect photons emitted from an object as a result of positron annihilation due to irradiation of the object with photons of a predetermined energy. Each detector in the array is linked to or associated with one or more other detector in the array to define a region of interest (RoI). The detector arrangement comprises or is communicatively coupled to a coincidence trigger unit which is configured to register or determine a coincidence in response to receiving detection signals from two different detectors forming part of the same RoI and indicating detection of substantially back-to-back co-linear and co-incident photons in the RoI.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ASSAYING AN OBJECT
A method for assaying a wall of a pressure tube for a nuclear reactor is disclosed. The wall has a matrix material and deuterium nuclei in the matrix material. The method includes: (a) transmitting gamma rays into the matrix material to induce photodisintegration of at least some of the deuterium nuclei, whereby reaction particles of the nuclei are emitted from the wall; (b) detecting at least some of the reaction particles emitted in step (a) using a particle detector; and (c) generating particle signals in response to detecting the particles in step (b).

Method and system for high speed detection of diamonds
THIS INVENTION relates to a method of or system for detecting presence of diamond in an object. The method comprises receiving classification data associated with photons emitted from object as a result of positron annihilation due to irradiation of the object with photons of a predetermined energy at which giant dipole resonance (GDR) occurs due to a nuclear reaction between the photons and carbon. The method then comprises the step of determining whether or not the object is potentially a diamond or diamondiferous by processing the received classification data with a trained machine-based learning classifier. The system typically implements the method described herein.

Methods and systems for non-intrusive chemical assaying of hydrogenous materials and mixtures using combined neutron activation and nuclear resonance fluorescence
Methods and systems are disclosed wherein neutrons are produced by a photon induced process 2D(,n) and the ensuing neutrons are thermalized and captured by hydrogen producing a 2.223 MeV gamma that is used to identify and quantify the presence of hydrogen and which, when combined with NRF signals from certain isotopes, can be used to establish the nature of a hydrogenous compound or a mixture of hydrogenous materials or a mixture of hydrogenous materials with other non-hydrogenous materials. The method is useful to establish, e.g., the presence and quantification of explosives, toxic substances and general contraband as well as the flow of materials in a production line or shipping venue.
