A method for detecting adsorption performance of microplastics for heavy metals using low-field NMR relaxation method, including: establishing a reference line reflecting a relationship between a target heavy metal ion concentration and a transverse relaxation time; conducting a heavy metal adsorption experiment on microplastics and obtaining samples at different time points; detecting transverse relaxation times of the multiple samples obtained; determining a heavy metal ion concentration of each sample based on the reference line of the target heavy metal ion concentration and the transverse relaxation time; analyzing data and implementing a model fitting process. The method according to the present disclosure does not require cumbersome and complicated sample pre-processing, it can be measured immediately after sampling, it is simple, fast and low-cost, the method has a wide detection limit, the detection is faster, non-destructive testing can be achieved.
System and method for detection of illicit objects in luggage
A system for detecting illicit objects contained in a piece of luggage includes a carriage defining a housing for receiving a piece of luggage and examination means placed at the inlet of the housing such that the introduction of the piece of luggage into the housing induces a relative displacement between the piece of luggage and at least one of the examination means and thus an automatic scanning of the piece of luggage by the examination means.

In situ, real-time in-line detection of filling errors in pharmaceutical product manufacturing using water proton NMR
A method of using the transverse relaxation time (T.sub.2) of solvent NMR signal to detect filling errors of an alum-containing product in real-time and in-line during manufacturing, for example during a fill-finish unit operation. This method can be used for quality control in vaccine manufacturing to ensure the delivery of the correct concentration of alum-containing product to the product container such as a vial or pre-filled syringe.
Magnetic resonance system and method to detect and confirm analytes
A system and method are provided to detect target analytes based on magnetic resonance measurements. Magnetic structures produce distinct magnetic field regions having a size comparable to the analyte. When the analyte is bound in those regions, magnetic resonance signals from the sample are changed, leading to detection of the analyte.
Methods and apparatus for analysis of sealed containers
This invention relates to methods and devices for NMR spectroscopy analyzing sealed containers e.g., food and beverage containers and other containers, and particularly according to specific embodiments sealed containers made of a conducting but generally nonferromagnetic metal or other conducting material. As discussed in above referenced applications, many current strategies for contaminant detection require a container to be violated, a process that can destroy the container or product and is impractical in large scale applications. The present invention overcomes these and other problems by providing methods and devices for the detection of contaminants and/or contraband in metal or conducting containers by NMR spectroscopy.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DETECTION OF CHEMICALS USING FREQUENCY MODULATED NUCLEAR QUADRUPOLE RESONANCE SIGNALS
A system and method for detecting a nucleus of interest in a chemical using a nuclear quadrupole resonance transition. An excitation pulse is used to excite one or more nuclei of interest, if they present in a sample, to an excited state, the energy of which depends on the magnetic field in the sample. The magnetic field in the sample is modulated, after the end of the excitation pulse, while the nuclei of interest decay from the excited state, so that the radiation they emit is frequency modulated. The frequency modulation is detected in the emitted radiation. In some embodiments a DC magnetic field is applied to the sample, during the application of the excitation pulse, to tune the frequency of the transition being excited.
Whole-Body Transmission X-Ray Scanner and Methods for Whole-Body Scanning
A whole-body transmission x-ray scanner includes an x-ray source, an x-ray camera, a controller, and a positioner aligning the source and camera to point x-rays towards the camera and moving the source and camera synchronously to scan and acquire radiographic images of an object located therebetween. The positioner includes a closed-loop cable alignment assembly fixed to the source and to the camera to maintain alignment of the source and camera during a scanning mode in which the source and camera move from one end of the object to another end. The positioner includes a motor controlled by the controller, a bi-directional crossover slide track bearing assembly connected to the source, and a conveyor connected to the motor and bearing assembly such that, actuation of the motor by the controller moves the slide track bearing assembly in a loop that correspondingly move the source and camera along a single linear axis.
Cross-talk compensation for gradiometer probes
A system/device, such as a gradiometer probe for detecting RF signals, or for example for explosive detection, has the shape of the coils in its adjustment mechanism that minimizes the cross-talk between the receiver probe (Rx) and the transmitting antenna (Tx) in such a way as to minimize (or reduce) the areas where the distance between the coils during the adjustment is the smallest. Moving coils along the plain of the coils is one mechanism of achieving it. Having the coils of different shapes, e.g., circular receiver and oval transmitter coils, is another. Many shapes are possible, including circular, oval, elliptical, and polygonal, to give a few examples. In some embodiments both of these methods/approaches are combined in a single device.
System for radio frequency illumination based temperature modulated-nuclear quadrupole resonance (TM-NQR) and signature detection of potential threat materials
Systems and methods are described, and one method includes illuminating a target-of-interest (TI) with an RF energy configured to effect, over a time duration extending from a first time to a second time, an increase in a temperature of the TI. At a first detection time within the time duration, a first temperature NQR signal spectrum of the TI is detected, and a corresponding first temperature NQR spectrum data set is generates. At a second detection time, subsequent to the first detection time, a second temperature NQR signal spectrum of the TI is detected and corresponding second temperature NQR spectrum data set is output. Based at least in part on the first temperature NQR spectral dataset and the second temperature NQR spectral dataset, the TI is classified between including the SI and not including the SI.
