METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR EVALUATING AN ULTRASONIC WELD JUNCTION
A method and a test fixture for evaluating a battery cell composed of a cell body having a plurality of electrode foils, a positive terminal and a negative terminal, wherein the positive terminal and the negative terminal are each joined to the cell body at weld junctions. This includes retaining the cell body of the battery cell in a first clamping device. The terminal is grasped in a terminal gripper. A dynamic stress end effector coupled to the terminal gripper applies a vibrational excitation load to the terminal. A static stress end effector applies a static load to the terminal. Integrity of the weld junction is evaluated based upon the applied static load.
POTTERY SHARD ANALYSIS USING MATCHING VIBRATION SIGNATURES
A pottery shard analyzer may determine one or more characteristics of an unidentified pottery shard. A vibration injector may cause the unidentified pottery shard to vibrate with a vibration signature that is dependent on the one or more characteristics of the unidentified pottery shard. A vibration detector may detect and extract a vibration signature from the vibration of the unidentified pottery shard caused by the vibration injector. A vibration signature comparator may: compare the detected vibration signature of the unidentified pottery shard with vibration signatures of multiple identified pottery shards having one or more known characteristics; and flag one or more of the identified pottery shards that have vibration signatures that are similar to the vibration signature of the unidentified pottery shard.
Systems and methods for determining geologic properties using acoustic analysis
Systems and methods which determine geologic properties using acoustic analysis are shown. Acoustic signals are collected during processing (e.g., crushing, shearing, striking, compressing, etc.) of geologic media, such as rock samples, for determining geologic properties according to embodiments. The acoustic signals collected may include frequency information, amplitude information, time information, etc. which may be utilized in determining geologic properties, such as geologic media properties (e.g., mineralogy, porosity, permeability, sealing capacity, fracability, compressive strength, compressibility, Poisson's Ratio, Youngs Modulus, Bulk Modulus, Shear Modulus), geologic structure properties (e.g., lithology, seal quality, reservoir quality), geologic acoustic properties (e.g., acoustic logging effectiveness, acoustic response, natural or harmonic frequencies, etc.). Embodiments may be used to provide determination of geologic properties from a variety of geologic media samples, such as cuttings, core samples, etc.
Impact Force Estimation And Event Localization
An impact detection methodology is disclosed. Systems and methods can be utilized to detect impacts of concern such as collisions, falls, or other incidents. Systems and methods can be utilized to monitor an area and detect falls or collisions of an individual, for instance, as may require intervention to aid the subject. A system can include two or more accelerometers and a controller. The accelerometers can be in communication with the structure (e.g., within or on the walls or floor of a structure) and can monitor the structure for vibrations. The accelerometers can be coupled to a controller that is configured to process data obtained from the accelerometers and provide output with regard to the force and/or location of an impact within the structure.
Fruit growth monitoring system and fruit growth monitoring method
A system for monitoring fruit growth including: a vibration exciter that imparts predetermined vibration to a stem or a branch between a fruit and a stalk growing on a plant; a vibration sensor that detects vibration of the stem or the branch caused by the vibration imparted by the vibration exciter; and a detector that detects a weight or weight change of the fruit based on a frequency of the vibration detected by the vibration sensor.
Empty crate inspection by detection of excited oscillations
An apparatus for inspecting an empty crate that is transported on a transport device includes an inspection device having a pulse generator, a processor, a sensor, and an uncoupling device. Prior to inspection, the uncoupling device uncouples the empty crate from the transport device. The pulse generator then excites vibrations in the empty crate, which the sensor receives and passes to a processor for analysis.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR THE ACOUSTIC DETECTION OF CRACKS IN A SEMICONDUCTOR SUBSTRATE
A system and method for the acoustic detection of cracks in a semiconductor substrate is disclosed. In one example, the system includes a force generating unit configured to apply a force onto the semiconductor substrate, a detector unit comprising a resonating indenter and an acoustic emission sensor coupled to the resonating indenter, and an evaluation unit configured to evaluate acoustic signals detected by the detector unit and configured to determine whether a crack has occurred based on the detected signals. The resonating indenter is configured to contact the semiconductor substrate at a lateral distance from the force generating unit, and wherein the force generating unit and the resonating indenter are configured to contact the semiconductor substrate on the same side.
EXTERNAL NOISEMAKER FOR PIPE SYSTEMS
A noisemaker system includes: a node of an infrastructure system; and a noisemaker including a vibrating plate, the vibrating plate including a top surface and a bottom surface, the bottom surface of the vibrating plate in contact with an exterior surface of the node, and an actuator configured to engage the top surface of the vibrating plate and generate an acoustic signal.
ACOUSTIC APPARATUS AND METHOD
An acoustic device for inspection of an object. The device includes an ultrasonic source including a snap-through buckling actuator. The device may be used for non-destructive testing of objects. The device may be carried by a platform, such as a coordinate measuring machine, to allow inspection of objects or it may be embedded within an object for life cycle monitoring purposes.
UTILITY POLE MONITORING SYSTEM AND DEVICE
A utility pole monitoring device comprising a body adapted to couple to a utility pole, a vibration device arranged on the body and configured to generate vibrations on or in the utility pole, a sensor arranged on the body for measuring the vibrations within the utility pole generated by the vibration device, and a controller for providing an initialization signal to the vibration device, and receive measured data from the sensor.
