SYSTEM AND METHOD OF EVAPORATIVE COOLING WATER MANAGEMENT
20220178629 · 2022-06-09 ·

A system and method of managing water in an evaporative cooling system includes one or a combination of three components. A first component is to purify incoming water to the target quality. A second component is to purify condenser loop water to the target quality. The choice of the technology may depend on the site specific environmental conditions determining the quality of the recirculated condenser water and may include (but not limited to) filtration allowing for meeting target quality parameters, such as ultrafiltration, microfiltration, etc. A third component is to provide protection for the condenser loop hardware, preventing or reducing rate of corrosion, fouling, and scaling by adding chemicals to water in the system. The choice of the chemistry will depend on the site specific environmental and other system operating conditions

A system and method of monitoring sobriety using a hand-held breath testing device that, on receipt of a user's breath, generates a breath test signal comprising substance content data and user identification data, and wirelessly transmits the breath test signal to a breath test signal receiving station. The breath test signal includes substance content data and user identification data. The substance content data includes at least one of: a blood alcohol level and a narcotics presence. The user identification data includes compressed image data. The signal receiving station is monitored by a supervisor who is able to intervene should the substance level be greater than a predetermined threshold, or should the user identification data no match with a reference user identification data.

ELECTROCHEMICAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY AND SYSTEM

A sensor assembly having a housing including a plurality of compartments, an actuator for selectively hermetically sealing or fluidly connecting the plurality of compartments, a plurality of sensors each positioned in a corresponding compartment, and a receiver is disclosed. A method of monitoring a parameter of a fluid in a remote location is also disclosed. The method includes deploying the sensor assembly to the remote location, fluidly connecting a first sensor to the fluid, transmitting to an external controller data including values for the measured parameter of the fluid, and operating the actuator to fluidly connect a second sensor responsive to the operating interval of the first sensor trending to expiration. A sensing system having a sensor assembly and an external controller is also disclosed. A method of facilitating monitoring a parameter of the fluid in a remote location by providing the sensor assembly is also disclosed.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR DETECTING FOODBORNE PATHOGENS USING SPECTRAL ANALYSIS

An example system includes a light intensity measuring apparatus couplable to a food processing apparatus and a computing system. The light intensity measuring apparatus includes a chamber configured to receive a water sample from the food processing apparatus, a light source, a detector configured to detect light that has passed through the water sample and measure multiple times intensities of wavelengths of the light to obtain multiple sets of measured intensities of wavelengths, and a communication module configured to provide the multiple sets of measured intensities of wavelengths. The computing system may receive the multiple sets of measured intensities, process the multiple sets to obtain a set of values, apply a first set of decision trees to the set of values to obtain a first result indicating a positive or negative foodborne pathogen detection, generate a notification indicating either the positive of negative detection, and provide the notification.

Auto jartest analyzer

An auto jartest analyzer includes a plurality of water sample reaction equipment, coagulant providing/controlling equipment and a coagulant concentration analysis device. The coagulant providing/controlling equipment provides coagulant of different concentration to the plurality of water sample reaction equipment to allow contaminants in a water sample of the water sample reaction equipment to precipitate. The coagulant concentration analysis device analyzes turbidity measurements for the plurality of water sample reaction equipment and determines if they meet predetermined analysis criteria, so as to figure out an optimal concentration of coagulant currently required to be added to the water sample. This thus achieves automatic analysis of an addition concentration of coagulant to be added to the water sample, which not only improves operational efficiency but also makes the analysis result more accurate.

METHODS FOR DETECTING AND QUANTIFYING TETRAKIS(HYDROXYMETHYL)PHOSPHONIUM SULFATE (THPS) IN BIOCIDE PRODUCTS
20220136965 · 2022-05-05 ·

The present application discloses methods for detecting and quantifying tetrakis(hydroxymethyl) phosphonium sulfate (THPS) in a water sample. In the methods, a water sample is mixed with a KMnO.sub.4 solution to form a mixture. An intensity of KMnO.sub.4 absorption in the mixture is then measured at a wavelength of 525 nm. The measured intensity is normalized by subtracting a background intensity at a wavelength of 650 nm. The presence and concentration of THPS in the water sample can then be determined by comparing the normalized intensity with intensity values of KMnO.sub.4 absorption of calibration samples comprising KMnO.sub.4 and known THPS concentrations.

Determination of total crude oil in water by absorbance spectrophotometry

A method for quantifying a crude oil in water is provided. The method includes selecting an ultraviolet/visible (UV/Vis) wavelength to perform a measurement, preparing calibration solutions in xylene, and preparing a calibration curve from the calibration solutions. A sample is prepared including extracting the crude oil from the water in a two-phase separation with xylene. An absorbance of the sample in the xylene is measured at the UV/Vis wavelength. A concentration of the crude oil in the water is calculated from the absorbance.
