A sample measurement method of performing first measurement for a blood coagulation test and second measurement for a test different from the blood coagulation test includes: dispensing a sample for use in the first measurement into a first container from a sample container; dispensing the sample for use in the second measurement into a second container different from the first container from the sample container from which the sample for use in the first measurement has been dispensed; performing the first measurement based on the sample dispensed into the first container; and performing the second measurement based on the sample dispensed into the second container.

The invention relates to a method for preparing a substrate (105a) comprising a sample reception area (110) and a sensing area (111). The method comprises the steps of: 1) applying a sample on the sample reception area; 2) rotating the substrate around a predetermined axis; 3) during rotation, at least part of the liquid travels from the sample reception area to the sensing area due to capillary forces acting between the liquid and the substrate; and 4) removing the wave of particles and liquid formed at one end of the substrate. The sensing area is closer to the predetermined axis than the sample reception area. The sample comprises a liquid part and particles suspended therein.

A specimen preparation apparatus includes a holder that holds a sample container and a centrifuge tube, a centrifugation section that centrifuges a specimen stored in the centrifuge tube, a transfer unit that transfers the centrifuge tube between the holder and the centrifugation section, and a dispenser that dispenses a sample stored in the sample container or a specimen prepared based on a sample into the centrifuge tube held in the centrifugation section. The transfer unit transfers the centrifuge tube storing a centrifuged sample or specimen to the holder.
Collection of mononuclear cells and peripheral blood stem cells
Blood in a separation chamber is separated into a red blood cell layer, a plasma constituent, and a mononuclear cell-containing layer. A portion of the plasma constituent exits the chamber via a plasma outlet, while a first portion of the red blood cell layer exits via a red blood cell outlet. A second portion of the red blood cell layer exits the chamber via the red blood cell outlet and is collected. At least a portion of the collected red blood cell layer may then be conveyed to the chamber via the red blood cell outlet to convey at least a portion of the mononuclear cell-containing layer out of the chamber via the plasma outlet for collection. A second portion of the plasma constituent may be conveyed out of the chamber via the plasma outlet to more fully collect the mononuclear cell-containing layer without the use of collected plasma.

Blood in a separation chamber is separated into a red blood cell layer, a plasma constituent, and a mononuclear cell-containing layer. A portion of the plasma constituent exits the chamber via a plasma outlet, while a first portion of the red blood cell layer exits via a red blood cell outlet. A second portion of the red blood cell layer exits the chamber via the red blood cell outlet and is collected. At least a portion of the collected red blood cell layer may then be conveyed to the chamber via the red blood cell outlet to convey at least a portion of the mononuclear cell-containing layer out of the chamber via the plasma outlet for collection. A second portion of the plasma constituent may be conveyed out of the chamber via the plasma outlet to more fully collect the mononuclear cell-containing layer without the use of collected plasma.
