Hose fatigue resistance evaluation method
A hose to be evaluated is installed on a fixing frame in a preset shape, and a strain gauge and markers are attached to a surface of the hose. During a course of application of predetermined internal pressure to the hose, strain data is acquired using the strain gauge and an image of an external shape of the hose is captured using a camera device to acquire image data. Based on the strain data and the image data acquired, a change in the shape of the hose between a plurality of time points at identical internal pressure is determined. Such hose fatigue resistance evaluation method can determine changes in the degree of deformation of a hose over time due to repeated application of internal pressure.
Real-time video extensometer
This disclosure relates to a real-time video extensometer. Typically, the apparatus of the disclosure combines the image source, data processing and electrical output on to a single processing board in order to achieve high frequency images and low latency times on data flow. Further, the video processing engine processes the image on a pixel basis and updating the output the intermediate extension/strain result so that after receipt of the final image pixel, a final extension/strain value is achieved and immediately output for evaluation.

The actuator also includes a stationary assembly secured to the stationary support. A moving assembly is movable relative to the stationary support on the guide, where the moving assembly and the stationary assembly provide at least two sets of interacting magnetic fields disposed about the guide at equal angular intervals. A test specimen support is joined to the moving assembly and disposed on one side of the stationary support so as to move along the axis with movement of the moving assembly, the axis extending through the test specimen support.

A first specimen holder is supported by the crosshead and faces the base, and a second specimen holder is supported by the base, the base being that portion joined to each of the columns closest to the crosshead. An actuator connected in series between one of the specimen holders and the corresponding base or crosshead. A brace connected to each of the columns and spanning between the columns, the brace being connected to each of the columns at a location along a length thereof between the base and the crosshead.

VIDEO EXTENSOMETER SYSTEM WITH REFLECTIVE BACK SCREEN
The present disclosure describes systems and methods for conducting deformation (e.g., extension and/or strain) measurements based on characteristics of a test specimen using light sourced from a single side of a test specimen. The light source and an imaging device are arranged on a single side of the test specimen relative to a back screen while the light source illuminates both a front surface of the test specimen and the back screen. The back screen reflects light to create a silhouette of the test specimen. The imaging device captures images of one or more markers on a front surface of the test specimen, as well as measuring position of the markers during the testing process. The imaging device also measures relative changes in position of the edges of the test specimen during the testing process, by analyzing the edges of the silhouetted image created by the reflective back screen.

Self-healing method for fractured SiC amorphous nanowires
The present invention provides a self-healing method for fractured SiC amorphous nanowires. A goat hair in a Chinese brush pen of goat hair moves and transfers single crystal nanowires under an optical microscope. On an in-situ nanomechanical test system of a TEM, local single crystal nanowires are irradiated with an electron beam for conducting amorphization transformation. Amorphous length of a single crystal after transformation is 60-100 nm. A fracture strength test is conducted on the amorphous nanowires in the single crystal after transformation in the TEM; and fracture strength of the amorphous nanowires is 9-11 GPa. After the amorphous nanowires are fractured, unloading causes a slight contact between the fractured end surfaces; and self-healing of the nanowires is conducted after waiting for 16-25 min in a vacuum chamber of the TEM. Atom diffusion is found at a healed fracture through in-situ TEM representation; and recrystallization is found in the amorphous nanowires. The present invention provides a method for realizing self-healing for fractured SiC amorphous nanowires without external intervention.
