METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR DETERMINING VEHICLE SPEED AND BAROMETRIC PRESSURE
Methods and systems are provided for utilization of vehicle speed and barometric pressure sensors. In one example, a method may include measuring a change in a barometric pressure resulting from a measured change in a vehicle speed, modeling the change in the barometric pressure based on a change in a ram-air pressure resulting from the change in the vehicle speed, and indicating a degraded barometric pressure measurement when a difference between the measured and the modeled change in the barometric pressure is greater than a threshold pressure difference.
METHOD OF DETERMINING THE WIND SPEED IN THE ROTOR PLANE OF A WIND TURBINE
The present invention relates to a method of determining the wind speed in the plane of a rotor (PR) of a wind turbine (1), by measuring (MES2) the rotational speed of the rotor, the angle of the blades and the generated power. The method according to the invention uses a wind turbine model (MOD) constructed from wind speed measurements (LID), and by use of measurement clustering (GRO) and regressions (REG).

MULTI-FUNCTION AIR DATA PROBE HAVING MULTI-HOLE PORTS USED FOR DETERMINING ANGLE OF ATTACK, TOTAL AND STATIC PRESSURE VALUES
A multi-function air data probe comprises a probe stem having an outer surface that extends between a first end and an opposite second end, with the probe stem having a first cross-sectional diameter; and a probe head having an outer surface that extends between a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the proximal end of the probe head is coupled to the first end of the probe stem. The probe head has a second cross-sectional diameter that is larger than the first cross-sectional diameter of the probe stem. A plurality of multi-hole ports is located in the probe head, with the multi-hole ports extending into and through the probe stem. The air data probe is operative to make measurements used to determine one or more of angle of attack values, total pressure values, and static pressure values.
Predicting failure and/or estimating remaining useful life of an air-data-probe heater
Apparatus and associated methods relate to predicting failure and/or estimating remaining useful life of an air-data-probe heater. Failure is predicted or useful life is estimated based on an electrical metric of the electrical operating power provided to a resistive heating element of the air-data-probe heater. The electrical metric of the air data probe heater is one or more of: i) phase relation between voltage across the resistive heating element and leakage current, which is conducted from the resistive heating element to a conductive sheath surrounding the resistive heating element; ii) a time-domain profile of leakage current through the heating element insulation during a full power cycle; and/or iii) high-frequency components of the electrical current conducted by the resistive heating element and/or the voltage across the resistive heating element.
