SEAT POSITIONING SYSTEM FOR A WHEELCHAIR

A seat positioning system includes a base frame having a pair of forward slots and a pair of rear slots, and a seat frame having a front end and a back end. The seat frame is coupled to the base frame and movable relative to the base frame. A first pair of linkages is slideably coupled to the pair of forward slots and connects the frames. A first pair of locking devices has a locked configuration adapted to prevent the first pair of linkages from sliding relative to the pair of forward slots and an unlocked configuration adapted to allow the first pair of linkages to slide relative to the pair of forward slots. A second pair of linkages slideably is coupled to the pair of rear slots and connects the frames. An actuator is pivotally connected to both the scat frame and the base frame and is configured to extend and contract to move the scat frame relative to the base frame.

SEATING ARRANGEMENT

A seating arrangement includes a base, a seat mounted to the base, the seat having a width extending from a first side to a second side and a length extending in a forward direction from a rear side to a front side. The seating arrangement further includes a backrest positioned adjacent the rear side of the seat. The seating arrangement further includes a cushion length adjustment (CLA) coupled to the seat at the front side. The CLA has a width bisected by a centerline. A first side of the CLA is at least partially defined by a first curved surface extending downward in the forward direction and extending downward toward the base away from the centerline. A second side of the CLA is at least partially defined by a second curved surface extending downward in the forward direction and extending downward toward the base away from the centerline.

CHAIRS WITH ADJUSTABLE BACK SUPPORTS
20210307518 · 2021-10-07 ·

An adjustable chair can support an occupant that sits on a front portion of a seat cushion. When the user leans back, the chair can provide back support without requiring that the user slide rearwardly along the seat cushion, thereby providing back support to minimize, limit, or substantially eliminate lower back fatigue, discomfort, or the like. A back support of the chair can be located at a desired forward/rearward position based on the user's position on the seat. In some settings, the chair can be used by a card dealer who tends to sit on a forward portion of the seat when dealing cards. The back support can be positioned to comfortably support the dealer's back when, for example, the dealer sits generally upright. The chair can also be used by other individuals that frequently sit on the front of the seat cushion.
