09743772 · 2017-08-29 · ·

Self-adjusting furniture, seating, and accessories disclosed. When the user applies a force to the seating by shifting his or her center of gravity, the backrest and/or seat/bed portions of the seating/furniture move in response to the force to recline or adjust the seating/furniture or accessories. The user can return the seating to an upright position by again shifting his or her center of gravity. The angle of the backrest and/or seat/bed portions can vary relative to the ground as the user moves. Continuously varying the angle of both the backrest and seat/bed portions of the seating/furniture or accessories relative to the ground may improve a user's seating comfort, for example, by decreasing or negating the user's need to shift position on the seat when reclined or continuously responding the user's shift in position.

Method of making a chair with pivot function

Some embodiments relate to a chair including a base, a hub, and a seat frame. The hub is supported by the base and includes first and second side mounts and first and second covers. The first side mount is positioned on a first side of the chair and includes a back portion and a bottom portion. The first cover is coupled to the first side mount to define a first channel with the first side mount. The seat frame includes a first lateral member having a lower portion and an upper portion that is pivotally coupled to the back portion of the first side mount and is configured to angulate relative to the lower portion. The lower portion of the first lateral member is slidably received in the first channel such that two sides and a bottom of the lower portion received within the first channel are substantially hidden.

An elevated mount chair includes: a base; a pair of arms; a seat positioned above the base between the arms; a backrest; a first ottoman; a reclining mechanism attached to the base, the seat and the backrest; and a footrest mechanism attached to the seat and the first ottoman, the footrest mechanism being coupled to the reclining mechanism. The seat includes a T-cushion positioned above a seat frame, the T-cushion having lateral wings that are positioned forward of the arms. The reclining and footrest mechanisms comprise a plurality of pivotally interconnected links configured to move the chair between an upright position, a TV position, and a fully reclined position. In moving between the upright, TV and fully reclined positions, a front portion of the seat experiences substantially no forward or rearward movement relative to the arms.

The invention relates to a chair, in particular a conference or visitor chair, which allows a coupled movement of a seat (3) and a backrest. The seat in this case is mounted in sliding bearings (4) comprising oblique guide surfaces (6) and is displaced and raised in the sliding bearings through a mounting end (5) of the backrest. According to the invention, two separate backrest bars (11) are provided, which are connected to the mounting ends (5), wherein the backrest bars can be moved independently of each other. In this way, different seat positions can be realized. Besides an upright standard position, an inclined high position, and an asymmetrical position, in which a one-sided load of a backrest bar (11) can be realized with a corresponding displacement and rotation of the seat (3).
