Portable Seat Apparatus and Method
A portable seating apparatus and method for easy assembly/disassembly of the same is described. The apparatus is designed for easy display of theme based design components which may be easily changed with minimal effort and complication. The assembly includes standing and swing type embodiments. The apparatus comprises seat, side support, and back rest components. The seat component generally comprises one or more substantially horizontal seat members and a front facing frontboard member to be removably attached with the front of the seat component. Right and left side support components include integral seat support, arm rest and back rest support portions. The backrest component includes at least one backboard member.
Active Sitting Device with Central Pivot
A sitting device that encourages the active engagement of the user to remain upright. A seat (14) supported by a central column (12) passes through a pivot joint (16) supported by a base (10). The central column (12) pivots angularly providing the user mobility in his or her hips and lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spine. The central column (12) and seat (14) are brought back to vertical when the sitting device is not in use by means of a counterweight (18) affixed to the bottom of the central column (12). The length of the central column (12) may be adjustable to allow the user to select the desired height of the seat (14). The pivot joint (16) may be a spherical plain bearing, spherical ball bearing, gimbal bearing, spherical thrust bearing, or other device that allows the central column (12) to pivot angularly. The base (10) supporting the pivot joint (16) and central column (12) may contain as few as one leg and as many legs as needed to support the user. The movement of the pivot joint (16) may be inhibited by affixing a collar lock (40). The frictional resistance of the pivot joint (16) may be adjusted with a set screw (50).
DEVICE FOR PIVOTING AN OBJECT ABOUT A VIRTUAL AXIS
A device for pivoting an object about a virtual axis by means of a kinematic system having a fixed base on which there is rotatably supported a first rotary component which has a first coupling component which rotates with respect to the base not in accordance with the rotary component, preferably not at all, characterized in that a second rotary component, constructed in a similar manner to the first, is connected to the first rotary component by means of the coupling components, whereby the portion thereof which in the case of the first rotary component corresponds to the base and which in this instance is the object carrier is rotated about the virtual axis.
STOWAWAY COMPACT ROCKER
A stowaway compact rocker having a set-up condition and a collapsed and bundled condition comprises a stationary chair frame base; a movable seating chair frame adapted for rocking movement relative to the stationary chair frame base; and a rocker mechanism operatively connected between the stationary chair frame base and the movable seating chair frame. The stationary chair frame base comprises a central axle tube; a pair of leg plates disposed on the central axle tube; front leg tubes; and rear legs tubes, each leg tube being adapted for connection to a leg plate. The movable seating chair frame comprises a pair of seat tube plates mounted on the central axle tube for rotation thereabout; seat member tubes, each being adapted for connection to a respective one of the seat tube plates; and back-rest tubes, each being adapted for connection to a respective one of the seat tube plates.
MULTI-DIMENSIONAL ROTATION AND TRANSLATION APPARATUS
A multi-dimensional rotation and translation apparatus includes a base frame, a yaw frame mounted on the base frame to rotate about a yaw axis, a pitch frame mounted on the yaw frame to rotate about a pitch axis, a roll frame mounted on the pitch frame to rotate about a roll axis, and an occupant support slidably mounted on the roll frame. The base frame may be mounted to translate along a translation frame. The yaw, pitch, and roll axes intersect at a selected location relative to an occupant of the occupant support. A yaw motor is engaged between the base and yaw frames; a pitch motor is engaged between the yaw and pitch frames; and a roll motor is engaged between the pitch and roll frames. The motors are selectively activated to cause relative rotation of the respective frames.
Glider recline linkage with double blocker cams
A blocker linkage for use in selectively locking a glider-recliner is provided. The glider-recliner is operable to move between closed, TV and full-recline positions. The blocker linkage includes a glide bracket having front and rear glide links pivotably coupled thereto. The rear glide link has a blocker pin coupled to it that extends outwardly. A carrier link is pivotably coupled to the bottoms of the front and rear glide links. A rear blocker cam is pivotably coupled to the carrier link. Similarly, a front blocker cam is also pivotably coupled to the carrier link. The rear blocker cam and the front blocker cam are operably coupled to cooperatively engage the blocker pin on the rear glide link when the glider-recliner is moved from the closed position to the TV and full-recline positions, preventing movement of the rear glide link (and thus the gliding movement supported by the carrier link).
SWING CHAIR
A swing chair includes: a support which is installed at a certain height or more above the floor; a main operation member elongated and having a virtual first rotation axis provided to the support at one side thereof and rotatably coupled to the support; a sub operation member elongated and having a virtual second rotation axis, provided to the support at one side thereof and spaced parallel to the first rotation axis, and rotatably coupled to the support; a seat portion coupled to any one of the main operation member and the sub operation member; and a rotation connecting member elongated and arranged in a front-rear direction and having a rear portion that is rotatably coupled to the other side of the main operation member and a front portion that is rotatably coupled to the other side of the sub operation member.
The seat component generally comprises one or more substantially horizontal seat members and a front frontboard member to be removably attached with the front of the seat component. Right and left side support components include integral seat support, arm rest and back rest support portions. The backrest component includes at least one backboard member. Outward facing component members including frontboard member with or without optional faceplate, seat component members, side support component members and backboard members having design elements (for example indicia, designs, 3 dimensional molded design elements) are easily changed by swapping out one or more members with similar component members containing different design element. Example embodiments includes inside and outside side support members that are combined at the right and left side support components to allow the outside side support members to be changed while keeping the inside side support members attached to the other seating and backrest components. Example embodiments include and inside and outside backboard members allowing an inside backboard member containing design elements to be changed without detaching the outside backboard member. Example steps for easily assembly and disassembly of both standing and suspended embodiments are described.
OSCILLATION MECHANISM FOR CHAIRS
An oscillation mechanism for chairs includes a support frame, a structure coupled to the support frame to rotate about a first axis, an elastic element interposed between the support frame and the structure and configured to oppose a reaction force to an oscillation of the structure. The reaction force generates a reaction moment acting on the structure with respect to the first axis. An oscillation adjustment system is able to vary the reaction moment with the oscillation being unchanged. The adjustment system includes a pin movably coupled to the structure and a movement system of the pin for varying the distance between the pin and the first axis. The elastic element is directly fastened to the pin so that the reaction force is transmitted to the structure with the application point corresponding to the pin and with direction and orientation unchanged.
