A measurement circuit for monitoring at least one parameter of an input signal received from an external signal source includes at least one first measurement element coupled to the input signal and configured to provide an initial measurement signal indicative of a respective one or more of the at least one parameter of the input signal. An analog to digital converter is coupled to receive a signal indicative of the analog output signal and a reference voltage and configured to generate a digital output signal representative of the analog output signal. A compensation circuit is responsive to an output of at least one second measurement element and to a reference signal to generate a compensation signal indicative of a difference between the output of the at least one second measurement element and the reference signal. A voltage level of the reference voltage is adjusted in response to the compensation signal.

System to make consumers aware of electricity usage

Energy usage of a plurality of appliances is measured using a single meter. A pattern of energy usage with respect to the plurality of appliances is determined dependent upon the measured energy usage, appliance details of the plurality of appliances, and usage hours of the plurality of appliances. The pattern is provided to a user of the appliances.

Utility meter for use with distributed generation device

An integrated metering device allows a resource provider to control the output of a distributed generation device onto a resource distribution network or grid. The integrated metering device may include a communications module, a metrology module, an inverter and regulator device, and a transfer switch. A resource provider may communicate with the integrated metering device via the communications module and may control the inverter and regulator device or the transfer switch. The metrology module may monitor the energy provided by the distributed generation device to the grid and may send information about the generated energy to the resource provider via the communications module.

Gating energy consumption accumulation by detecting a fundamental component of a current

Certain aspects and features include a system and method for energy measurement in electric meter systems. In an example, an electric meter receives an Alternating Current (A/C) signal. The electric meter includes a current measurement device that is configured to obtain a current measurement of a current of the A/C signal. The current measurement includes a fundamental frequency component and a noise component. The electric meter receives a current measurement signal from the current measurement device and filters the noise component from the current measurement, thereby creating a filtered current measurement signal. When the filtered current measurement signal is greater than a starting current threshold, the electric meter calculates an energy consumption measurement.
