Electrical meter for determining a power main of a smart plug

An electrical panel or an electrical meter may provide improved functionality by interacting with a smart plug. A smart plug may provide a smart-plug power monitoring signal that includes information about power consumption of devices connected to the smart plug. The smart-plug power monitoring signal may be used in conjunction with power monitoring signals from the electrical mains of the building for providing information about the operation of devices in the building. For example, the power monitoring signals may be used to (i) determine the main of the house that provides power to the smart plug, (ii) identify devices receiving power from the smart plug, (iii) improve the accuracy of identifying device state changes, and (iv) train mathematical models for identifying devices and device state changes.

WIRE DOWN DETECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD

Some embodiments include a system for metering an electrical grid comprising at least one processor executing instructions from a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium of an electrical grid fault detection system. In some embodiments of the system, the instructions cause a processor to calculate a prediction of whether power delivery to at least a portion of the electrical grid is functioning abnormally using voltage sensing devices coupled to at least one feeder, where one or more of the voltage sensing devices are responsive to a determination that the power delivery is functioning abnormally. Further in some embodiments, the determination includes the electrical grid fault detection system receiving at least one signal or voltage reading from the electrical grid based at least in part on a sensed or received voltage level or range of voltage level.

An electric energy meter for a poly-phase electricity network includes a power transformer having a primary side and a secondary side, a first analog front end (AFE) unit is coupled to the secondary side of the power transformer, and a microcontroller coupled to the primary side of the power transformer. The first AFE unit is to be coupled to a first phase of the poly-phase electricity network. The microcontroller is configured to transmit a digitized request signal to, and to receive a measurement signal from, the first AFE unit via the power transformer. More specifically, the first AFE unit, upon receiving the digitized request signal, is to extract information from the digitized request signal.

Method, apparatus and computer program product for monitoring energy consumption in an electric vehicle charging network

Provided is a technique for monitoring energy consumption in an electric vehicle (EV) charging network. The technique is based on using messages from one or more EV charging stations, each of which comprises a timestamp, a station ID, a charging session ID, and an energy meter reading. Whenever a new message is received, it is first stored in a database, whereupon it is checked whether the database comprises an older message with the same station ID and charging session ID as the new message. If the older message is present in the database, a time difference and an energy difference between the new and older messages are calculated. Then, a time granularity level is selected based on the time difference. An energy consumption distribution between the timestamps of the new and older messages is obtained based on the time granularity level and the energy difference.

System to make consumers aware of electricity usage

Energy usage of a plurality of appliances is measured using a single meter. A pattern of energy usage with respect to the plurality of appliances is determined dependent upon the measured energy usage, appliance details of the plurality of appliances, and usage hours of the plurality of appliances. The pattern is provided to a user of the appliances.
