Method for determining an individual power consumption
To determine a power consumption in a group of individual electric power distribution branches (3), a method includes the steps of: a) measuring the current (I) flowing in a main upstream line (2) and the voltage (U) of the main upstream line; b) measuring the voltage (U.sub.i) of at least one branch, downstream of a circuit breaker (7) equipping each branch (3); c) determining the current (I.sub.i) flowing through the branch based on the difference (ΔU.sub.i) between the upstream-downstream voltages; d) calculating the individual power consumption (P.sub.i′) of the branch from the current and the voltage of the branch; e) calculating the general power (P) consumed by the group of branches from the current and the voltage of the main upstream line; and f) correcting (F6) the individual power consumption (P.sub.i′) so that an instantaneous electric power consumption variation observed at the level of the branch (3) is equal to an instantaneous electric power consumption variation simultaneously observed at the level of the main upstream line (2).
Method of utility usage divergence identification between recurring consumption data indicative of repeating periodic consumption patterns and utility consumption data
A method and apparatus for analysing utility consumption at a utility supply location is described. The method comprises the steps of: receiving utility consumption data corresponding to utility consumption at the utility supply location over a time period to be analysed; generating a recurring consumption model indicative of repeating consumption patterns in the utility consumption data; identifying divergences between the utility consumption data and the recurring consumption model; computing a diagnostic measure indicative of irregular consumption based on the identified divergences; and outputting the diagnostic measure. The diagnostic measure may be used to identify flexibility or irregularities in consumption and/or to control supply of the utility. The utility may be e.g. electricity, gas or water.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR TARGETED MARKETING BASED ON ESTIMATED BUILDING OCCUPANCY
An occupancy based targeted marketing system for augmenting market control techniques corresponding to one or more buildings of one or more building types within a geographic subsector is provided. The occupancy based traffic control system includes a subsector occupancy aggregator, an other facility occupancy estimator, and a subsector market control processor. The subsector occupancy aggregator is configured to receive energy consumption and outside temperature streams corresponding to a portion of the one or more buildings, and is configured to employ occupancy components for each of the portion of the one or more buildings to process the streams, and is configured to generate average occupancy components corresponding to each building type within the portion of the one or more buildings and a first aggregated occupancy component for the first portion of the one or more buildings, where the occupancy components are generated by exclusively processing the streams. The other facility occupancy estimator is coupled to the subsector occupancy aggregator, and is configured to receive the average occupancy components, and is configured to match the average occupancy components to remaining ones of the one or more buildings not in the first portion according to building type, and is configured to generated a second aggregated occupancy component for the remaining ones. The subsector market control processor is configured to employ the first and second aggregated occupancy components to determine an occupancy estimate for the one or more buildings, and is configured to modify defaults of one or more corresponding market control devices based on the occupancy estimate to optimize targeted advertising to a flow of pedestrians and automotive vehicles in the geographic subsector.
