A furniture base can be quickly and easily detached from a particular seat box, and replaced by a different style of furniture base, by means of at least two cam or connector pieces having complimentary interlock mechanisms constructed and arranged to interlock one to another to form a cam or connector. A plurality of interlock mechanisms may be provided, as well as a plurality of positioning elements on respective cam pieces.
