System and method for varying a function triggered by near field communication
An automated method is provided for initiating a transaction function in a transaction processing device. The method comprises establishing near field communication between the transaction processing device and an NFC transmitting device having an associated tag identifier and receiving NFC information including the tag identifier. The transaction processing device transmits the NFC information to a merchant processor and receives from the merchant processor a tag rule communication including an instruction to carry out a transaction function associated with the tag identifier or a request to associate a new transaction function with the tag identifier. Responsive to receiving an instruction to carry out a transaction function associated with the tag identifier, the transaction processing device executes the transaction function. Responsive to receiving a request to associate a new transaction function with the tag identifier, the transaction processing device transmits a request response to the merchant processor.

Location positioning engine system and method
An indoor mapping system utilizing beacons is described. The system includes a premises map, a beacon disposed within the premises, a plurality of measured signal strengths, and a wireless device. The beacon location is layered on the map, and the measured signal strengths are captured from the beacon. The wireless device includes an indoor positioning module, and the wireless device receives a beacon signal when it is within a broadcast range of the beacon. The wireless device determines a signal strength of the received beacon signal. The indoor positioning module associates the measured signal strengths with their corresponding beacon location. The beacon location is further associated with a plurality of calculated signal strengths that are generated from the measured signal strengths. The indoor positioning module determines that the wireless device is at a location by comparing the received beacon identifiers and signal strengths with the calculated signal strengths.

Activation mechanisms for tracking tags
Aspects of the disclosure provide systems including linear material and tracking tags. The tracking tag may be at least initially arranged on the liner material. The tracking tag may also include a top layer, beacon transmission circuitry, a bottom layer of adhesive, and an activation mechanism. The activation mechanism may be configured to activate the tracking tag and cause the beacon transmission circuitry to transmit beacon signals in order to enable tracking of the object. The activation mechanism may further include an initially closed circuit, and the activation mechanism may be configured to automatically activate the tracking tag when the tracking tag is removed from the liner material.

Activation mechanisms for tracking tags
Aspects of the disclosure provide systems including liner material and tracking tags. A first tracking tag may be at least initially arranged on the liner material. The first tracking tag may also include beacon transmission circuitry including one or more batteries, a top layer, a bottom layer including an adhesive, and an activation mechanism. The activation mechanism may be configured to activate the first tracking tag and cause the beacon transmission circuitry to transmit beacon signals in order to enable tracking of the object. The activation mechanism may further include an initially closed circuit that extends beyond a perimeter of the top layer, and the activation mechanism may be configured to automatically activate the tracking tag when the tracking tag is separated from an adjacent tracking tag on the liner material.

Beacon transmission
Examples of electronic devices are described herein. In some examples, an electronic device includes a transmitter. In some examples, the transmitter may transmit a first beacon and a second beacon. In some examples, the first beacon may be associated with a first account. In some examples, the second beacon may be associated with a second account. In some examples, the first account includes a different beacon control privilege relative to the second account.
