SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INTEGRATED EMERGENCY VEHICLE DETECTION AND LOCALIZATION
A siren detector identifies those frequencies at which a siren is active and a localizer localizes the siren based on those frequencies.
Controlling a device by tracking movement of hand using acoustic signals
A method, device and computer program product for controlling the device by tracking a movement of a hand or other objects. The device receives acoustic signals. At least a portion of the received signals are transformed into two-dimensional sinusoids whose frequencies are proportional to an angle-of-arrival (AoA) and a propagation distance of the reflected signals. An AoA-distance profile is derived based on signals received from the object by evaluating frequencies of the two-dimensional sinusoids. Then, an AoA-distance pair is derived from the AoA-distance profile. A current location of the object is determined based on the estimated AoA-distance pair. The device then performs a command in response to detecting that the user moved to perform the command based on prior and current locations of the object.

Method and apparatus for determining the direction of arrival of radio or acoustic signals, and for transmitting directional radio or acoustic signals
A directional receiver system may include a receiver, a plurality of receive antenna elements, and a circuit. The receiver may include an input port and an output. The plurality of receive antenna elements may be fixedly configured into a known geometric relationship to each other, and each of the receive antenna elements may be connected to the input port of the receiver. The circuit may be coupled to the output of the receiver, configured to determine time differences at which signals from a source are incident upon the antenna elements, and configured to determine an angular orientation of the source to the receive antenna elements based on the time differences.
UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLE DETECTOR
Method of detecting and tracking an unmanned aerial vehicle, the method comprising, at a detector unit (300a) comprising a first microphone and a second microphone: monitoring for a sound associated with the presence of the unmanned aerial vehicle (505) in the vicinity of the detector unit; in response to the monitoring indicating the presence of the unmanned aerial vehicle, determining, at the detector unit, a phase delay between the sound as received at the first microphone and the sound as received at the second microphone; on the basis of the determined phase delay and a known separation of the first microphone and the second microphone, determining, at the detector unit, an azimuth angle (507a) to the unmanned aerial vehicle from the detector unit; and transmitting, to a computing node (501), the determined azimuth angle for use in determining a location of the unmanned aerial vehicle.
Direction-of-arrival estimation apparatus, method, and non-transitory medium
A direction of arrival estimation apparatus includes at least first and second sub-arrays to receive a reflected wave of a transmission waveform from a target; first and second phasing parts that perform phasing of reception signals at the first and second sub-arrays to generate first and second sub-array beams; an arrival time difference calculation part that calculates first and second correlations of the reception signals of the first and second sub-array beams at first and second time points to find an arrival time difference between times of the reflected wave arriving at the first and second sub-arrays, based on a result of a predetermined operation on the first and second correlations and a time difference between the first time point and the second time point; and a direction of arrival calculation part that finds a direction of arrival of the target based on the arrival time difference.

In an aspect, an audio waveform is received and digitized by at least one of a plurality of audio input devices. The digitized audio waveforms are transmitted to a central processing unit, which formulates and submits a query to an online engine. The formulated query may include the at least one digital audio waveform. The online engine retrieves one or more online results relevant to the formulated query. The online results may include one or more relevant visual results, and/or one or more relevant audio results. The retrieved results are served in real-time back to a user, via a device having audio output capability, and/or a device having visual data output capability.
