Marine electronic device for presentment of nautical charts and sonar images
An apparatus for providing marine information is provided including a user interface, a processor, and a memory including computer program code. The memory and the computer program code are configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to generate a sonar image based on sonar return data received from an underwater environment, determine a location associated with the sonar return data based on location data received from one or more position sensors, and render a nautical chart on a display. The computer program code is further configured to cause the apparatus to receive a user input on the user interface directed to a portion of the display in which the nautical chart is presented, and modify presentation of the nautical chart such that the portion of the display presents the sonar image in response to receiving the user input.
DETECTING WIRELESS SIGNAL LEAKAGE
Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for operating and maintaining a data network, and for detecting problems such as signal leakage. In one implementation, a computing device may determine, based on availability and location, one or more mobile devices and may cause the mobile devices to detect a wireless signal. The detected wireless signal may be identified as having leaked from a network, such as a wired network, and used to detect the source of leaks.
Audio Distance Estimation for Spatial Audio Processing
A method for spatial audio signal processing including: obtaining, from a first capture device, at least one first audio signal and at least one first direction parameter for at least one frequency band; obtaining, from a second capture device, at least one second audio signal and at least one second direction parameter for the at least one frequency band; obtaining a first position associated with the first capture device; obtaining a second position associated with the second capture device; determining a distance parameter for the at least one frequency band in relation to the first position based, at least partially, on the at least one first direction parameter and the at least one second direction parameter; and enabling an output and/or store of the at least one first audio signal, the at least one first direction parameter and the distance parameter.
NARROWBAND DIRECTION OF ARRIVAL FOR FULL BAND BEAMFORMER
A system and method for improving the performance of a hands-free voice user interface system while minimizing the computational complexity without sacrificing performance. Specifically, when estimating the location of the talker for the purpose of steering a directional beam in the direction of the active talker. A hands-free voice user interface system requires a clean signal to be streamed to the cloud for recognition. One way to improve the speech signal is to estimate where the talker is and steer a beam in the direction of the active talker. To locate the talker to a localized position, a direction of arrival estimator (DOA) algorithm is used. DoA generally requires noise and echo free signal for optimal estimation, but it is computationally expensive to run audio pre-processing such as an acoustic echo cancellation for each microphone in microphone array. To reduce computational complexity, the system and method extract certain range of frequency and operate pre-processing only on the selected frequency. By properly selecting the frequency range, it does not degrade DoA accuracy while significantly reducing computational complexity.

ACOUSTIC SENSOR ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF SENSING SOUND USING THE SAME
An acoustic sensor assembly includes a non-directional acoustic sensor having a first directional pattern, a plurality of directional acoustic sensors surrounding the non-directional acoustic sensor and including a plurality of resonators having different resonance frequencies from each other, each of the plurality of directional acoustic sensors having a second directional pattern, and a processor configured to obtain output signals from the non-directional acoustic sensor and the plurality of directional acoustic sensors. The processor is further configured to calculate an acoustic signal having directivity by selecting any one or any combination of the obtained output signals or selectively combining the obtained output signals, and obtain sound around the acoustic sensor assembly, using the calculated acoustic signal.

Acoustic vector sensor
An acoustic vector sensor and a method of detecting an acoustic vector are described. An object suspended in the fluid medium by a non-contact support structure. The object and the non-contact support structure are configured so that the object moves in response to any disturbance of the fluid by an acoustic wave; The non-contact support structure of the object comprises a plurality of solenoids that each produce a magnetic field in a fluid medium. A measurement measures movement of the object. A processing device determines an acoustic intensity vector of the acoustic wave based on the measured movement of the object.
Method and Apparatus for Robust Low-Cost Variable-Precision Self-Localization With Multi-Element Receivers in GPS-Denied Environments
A practically implementable robust direction-of-arrival (DoA) estimation approach that is resistant to localization errors due to mobility, multipath reflections, impulsive noise, and multiple-access interference. As part of the disclosed invention the inventors consider infrastructure-less 3D localization of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) with no GPS assistance and no availability of global clock synchronization. The proposed method can be extended to challenging communication environments and applied for the localization of assets/objects in space, underground, intrabody, underwater and other complex, challenging, congested and sometimes contested environments. Each AUV leverages known-location beacon signals to self-localize and can simultaneously report its sensor data and measurement location. The approach uses two known location beacon nodes, where the beacons are single-hydrophone acoustic nodes that are deployed at known locations and transmit time-domain coded signals in a spread-spectrum fashion.
