Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method of determining, by a processing system, complete neighbor information for a plurality of radio devices in a wireless network, wherein the complete neighbor information denotes neighboring radio devices; establishing, by the processing system, a backbone list including radio devices that provide beacons, wherein the backbone list includes a first radio device of the plurality of radio devices; determining, by the processing system, a set of radio devices in the plurality of radio devices that are not neighboring radio devices of every radio device in the backbone list; adding, by the processing system, an additional radio device from the plurality of radio devices to the backbone list responsive to an existence of at least one radio device in the set, wherein the additional radio device has at least one neighboring radio device in the backbone list and has at least one neighboring radio device in the set; and repeating, by the processing system, the determining the set step and the adding step until the set is empty. Electronic device for performing ranging and method thereof

A method and an electronic device for ranging are provided. An ultra-wideband (UWB) signal is received from an external device through a first antenna. A communication state between the external device and the electronic device is identified using information about communication quality included in the UWB signal. A signal received through a second antenna is identified by decoding the received signal based on the identified communication state. A distance between the electronic device and the external device is determined based on whether the received signal is a low frequency (LF) signal.

Transmit power control for positioning using non-serving cells

Methods, systems, and devices for transmit power control for positioning using non-serving cells are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine that an uplink reference signal may be associated with a positioning procedure. In some cases, the positioning procedure may include transmission, by the UE, of the reference signal to a non-serving cell, which may be farther away from the UE than a serving cell. The UE may determine an absence of a parameter associated with a transmit power for transmitting the reference signal. Based on the absence, the UE may determine the transmit power based on parameters received from a serving cell, based on configuration information, based on a message intercepted from the non-serving cell, or based on other considerations or information. In some cases, the UE may determine the transmit power such that the likelihood of the non-serving cell receiving the reference signal is increased.

HYBRID RANGING

Hybrid ranging may be provided. A coverage environment may be divided into a plurality of areas and a corresponding plurality accuracy gradients for each of the plurality of areas may be determined. Passive ranging may be implemented for ones of the plurality of areas that have a high accuracy gradient and one of a high client device density and low client device movement. Active ranging may be implemented for ones of the plurality of areas that have a low client device density. Based on at least one of a level of client device density and movement speed of client devices, switching may be performed between passive ranging and active ranging for ones of the plurality of areas that have at least one of high client device density and high client device movement.
