Energy efficient location tracking on smart phones
A GPS-enabled cellular electronic device is operated in an indoor mode. An increase in strength of a cellular signal is detected at the GPS-enabled cellular electronic device. Responsive at least to the increase in cellular signal strength, the GPS-enabled cellular electronic device is transitioned to an outdoor testing mode. Detecting is carried out to determine whether movement of the GPS-enabled cellular electronic device occurs during the outdoor testing mode. If so, the GPS-enabled cellular electronic device is transitioned to an outdoor mode.
Systems and methods for calibrating unstable sensors
Calibrating an unstable sensor of a mobile device. Systems and methods for calibrating a sensor of a mobile device determine a first estimated position of the mobile device without using any measurement from the sensor of the mobile device, generate a second estimated position of the mobile device using a measurement from the sensor, estimate a sensor error of the sensor using the first estimated position and the second estimated position, and use the sensor error to determine a calibration value for adjusting one or more measurements from the sensor.
Estimation of the location of a wireless terminal, based on a propagation characteristic of a pressure wave
A method for estimating the location of a wireless terminal at an unknown location, such as within a building. A location engine using the disclosed method receives and uses samples of barometric pressure measured by the wireless terminal to generate a characterization of a pressure wave in the vicinity of the wireless terminal. The location engine generates an estimate of the location of the wireless terminal based on the characterization of the pressure wave and, in some cases, the location of the source of the pressure wave, such as a building's door that is opening or closing. The location engine also bases the estimate of the wireless terminal's location on a propagation characteristic of the pressure wave, such as its speed of propagation.
Method and apparatus for tracking assets
A tracking device is described. The tracking device receives, from a management server, pressure measurement thresholds. The tracking device monitors pressure measurements of the asset. Based on the pressure measurements, the tracking device enters an active mode of operation. When operating in the active mode of operation, the tracking device transmits sensor measurements of the asset to the management server. The tracking device determines new pressure measurements of the asset. Based on the new pressure measurements, the tracking device enters a passive mode of operation. When operating in the passive mode of operation, no data is transmitted or received from/to the tracking device to/from the management server.
RADIO NETWORK NODE, USER EQUIPMENT AND METHODS PERFORMED IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATION NETWORK
Embodiments herein relate to, for example, a method performed by a UE for handling positioning of the UE in a wireless communication network. The UE measures a CIR of a signal from a radio network node; and initiates a process for determining whether the UE is indoors or outdoors using an ML model with the measured CIR as input.

LOCATION DETERMINATION SYSTEM
A location determination system is provided. The location determination system includes a vehicle device mounted in a vehicle, and a mobile terminal provided as a communication terminal to be carried by a user of the vehicle and set to transmit a radio signal including transmission source information at least once within a predetermined period of time. The vehicle device may receive the radio signal transmitted from the mobile terminal via an antenna disposed in the vehicle and detect a reception strength of the received radio signal. The vehicle device may determine, based on the reception strength of the radio signal detected by the reception portion, whether the mobile terminal is present inside a target area set in advance based on a position at which the antenna is disposed.
Method, an apparatus and a computer program product for positioning
The invention relates to determination of a location of a device of a user. In a methods, information of signal strength of one or more wireless signals and information of signal strength distribution of wireless signals is obtained by a device. The information of signal strength and the information of signal strength distribution are used to determine at least one likelihood whether the device is inside an area. In the method radio maps representing signal strength distribution in the building may be used.
