Null Data Packet (NDP) Ranging Measurement Feedback
A first communication device determines which one or more types of feedback information, from among a plurality of types of feedback information associated with a range measurement exchange session, a second communication device is to provide to the first communication device in a feedback packet transmitted as part of the range measurement exchange session. The first communication device transmits to the second communication device one or more indications of the determined one or more types of feedback information that the second communication device is to provide to the first communication device in the feedback packet. The first communication device performs the range measurement exchange, including receiving the feedback packet from the second communication device, wherein the feedback packet includes the determined one or more types of feedback information.
Method for locating a communication terminal and communication terminal
The present invention concerns, inter alia, a method for generating location data for locating a mobile communication terminal (20) in a cellular communication network, said communication network being comprised of a number of radio cells (40, 50, 60). The basics are that the communication terminal (20) successively establishes a connection to a number of two or more radio cells (40, 50, 60) having the same and/or different field strengths, in that the communication terminal (20) maintains the connection to the respective radio cell (40, 50, 60) for a defined time period, and in that after the defined time period has elapsed, the communication terminal (20) terminates the connection to the radio cell (40, 50, 60) and establishes a connection to the next radio cell (40, 50, 60). The information items arising from this process are used on the network side to generate location data by means of which the communication terminal (20) can be located. The locating procedure is simple and inexpensive, particularly since no chargeable data connections are made.
Angle of arrival (AOA) positioning method and system for positional finding and tracking objects using reduced attenuation RF technology
Systems and methods for determining user equipment (UE) locations within a wireless network using reference signals of the wireless network are described. The disclosed systems and methods utilize a plurality of in-phase and quadrature (I/Q) samples generated from signals provided by receive channels associated with two or more antennas of the wireless system. Based on received reference signal parameters the reference signal within the signals from each receive channel among the receive channels is identified. Based on the identified reference signal from each receive channel, an angle of arrival between a baseline of the two or more antennas and incident energy from the UE to the two or more antennas is determined. That angle of arrival is then used to calculate the location of the UE. The angle of arrival may be a horizontal angle of arrival and/or a vertical angle of arrival.
Spatial diversity for relative position tracking
A network comprises a network apparatus constructed and arranged for each of a plurality of vehicles in radio frequency (RF) communication with each other, the network apparatus comprising: at least one first transceiver; at least one second transceiver configured to exchange RF signals with the at least one first transceiver; receiver circuitry configured to determine timing information from the acquired RF signals; memory storing information related to fixed distances between the at least one first transceiver and the at least one second transceiver; a processor coupled to the memory to access the stored information related to the fixed distances, and to the receiver circuitry to receive the timing information determined from the RF signals, the processor being configured to determine a relative position of the vehicle with respect to a receipt of the RF signals based on the stored information related to the fixed distances between each of at least three spatially separated antenna and on the timing information determined by the receiver circuitry; and a control system configured to control operation of the vehicle in response to the relative position of the vehicle, determined by the processor.
Indoor access point position management
In embodiments of the present disclosure, a method is provided for managing an AP position for an access point. In the method, a magnetic distribution map is obtained for an indoor area, the magnetic distribution map representing a plurality of reference magnetic values that are collected at a plurality of reference positions in the indoor area. A plurality of magnetic measurements are received, here the plurality of magnetic measurements are respectively collected at a plurality of access point (AP) positions at which a plurality of APs are deployed within the indoor area, and the plurality of AP positions are unknown. The plurality of AP positions are mapped to a portion of the plurality of reference positions based on the plurality of magnetic measurements and the plurality of reference magnetic values. The plurality of AP positions are determined based on the portion of the plurality of reference positions. Therefore, AP positions may be determined accurately and effectively in an indoor environment.
Methods and apparatus for radio frequency power mode selection
A mobile device may be configured to build a power mode database for positioning based on the mobile device's location and associate power mode information, including the operating mode that is requested for positioning and the operating mode that is used for positioning at the location. Additional factors may be associated with the location including contextual information, such as user context, environmental context, and temporal context. The power mode database may be a local database on the mobile device or a remote database, such as a crowdsourced database, accessible via a server. The mobile device may access the power mode database based on a current location and requested operating mode, as well as contextual information, to obtain the actual operating mode to be used for positioning at the location.
