Asset tracking system and method
A system for identifying a location of one or more assets in a predefined two-dimensional area comprises at least three tracking stations and one or more tracking tags. Each tracking station selectively emits a vertical laser line upon which is embedded a unique identifier, selectively sweeps its laser line about its central axis such that each tracking station's laser line sweeps across at least a portion of the predefined 2-D area, and selectively transmits a current angle of its laser line as its laser line sweeps about its central axis. Each tracking tag detects a laser line from at least three tracking stations within its line of sight. Each tracking tag decodes the unique tracking station identifier, receives the current angle from the tracking station corresponding to the detected laser line, and stores the decoded unique tracking station identifier and the received current angle.

A location system for determining a position of a device is described here. The location system comprises a memory and a processor, the processor executes the computer-executable instruction to perform operations. The operations include sending a first instruction to a locator beacon to determine a first location of the device based on angle of arrival calculation of a first set of one or more packets received from the device. The operations further include sending a second instruction to the device to determine a second location of the device based on angle of departure calculation of a second set of one or more packets received from the locator beacon. Furthermore, the operation includes receiving the first location from the locator beacon and receiving the second location from the device. The operations further include determining the position of the device based on a function of the first location and the second location.

User equipment in wireless communication system, electronic device, method and storage medium
The present disclosure relates to a user equipment in a wireless communication system, an electronic device, a method and a storage medium. The user equipment in the wireless communication system according to the present disclosure comprises one or more processing circuits, the processing circuits being configured to execute the following operations: acquiring a downlink signal from an electronic device in the wireless communication system; estimating the angle of arrival (AOA) of the downlink signal, wherein at least the AOA and the position of the electronic device are used for estimating the position of the user equipment. By using the user equipment, electronic device, method and storage medium according to the present disclosure, the AOA of a downlink signal may be estimated when the user equipment is in an idle or initial access state, and the AOA may be used for estimating the position of the user equipment.
COMMUNICATION TECHNIQUES USING PASSIVE BEACONS
Certain embodiments are directed to techniques (e.g., a device, a method, a memory or non-transitory computer readable medium storing code or instructions executable by one or more processors) for passive beacon communication techniques. Transmitting devices (e.g., beacons) can transmit advertising messages using a first wireless protocol to provide timing for ranging messages for one of more ranging messages over a second protocol (e.g., UWB). One or more receiving devices can determine using signal strength if the devices are within a threshold range to perform communication techniques. Various ranging communications techniques can be used to determine a range between the receiving device and transmitting device. Other techniques can be used to passively calculate the angle of arrival for transmitter signals. The angle of arrival information can be used for precise position locating for the receiving device or to indicate interest in information provided by the one or more transmitting devices.
Geolocationing system and method for use of same
A geolocationing system and method for providing awareness in a multi-space environment, such as a hospitality environment or educational environment, are presented. In one embodiment of the geolocationing system, a vertical and horizontal array of gateway devices is provided. Each gateway device includes a gateway device identification providing an accurately-known fixed location within the multi-space environment. Each gateway device includes a wireless transceiver that receives a beacon signal from a proximate wireless-enabled personal locator device. The gateway devices, in turn, send gateway signals to a server, which determines estimated location of the wireless-enabled personal location device with angle of arrival modeling.

Dynamic switch pattern selection for angle of arrival
A device and method for improving the accuracy of angle of arrival and departure computations is disclosed. The device and method rely on manipulation of the antenna switching pattern to achieve an improved calculation of arrival angle. In one embodiment, the device calculates an estimate angle of arrival using conventional methods. The device then determines which of a plurality of different antenna switching pattern yields the more accurate results at this estimated angle of arrival. The AoA measurement is then repeated using the preferred antenna switching pattern. In another embodiment, the device captures the amplitude and/or phase of the signal from each antenna element. The device then sorts these antenna elements and defines a preferred antenna switching pattern based on the sort list. The AoA measurement is then performed using the preferred antenna switching pattern. In another embodiment, neural networks may be utilized to determine the preferred antenna switching pattern.
BASE STATION LOCATION AND ORIENTATION COMPUTATION PROCEDURE
Techniques are provided for utilizing network positioning protocols to perform a base station location and orientation computation procedure. An example method of determining an orientation of a base station antenna with a network server includes receiving measurement values from a base station based on uplink reference signals transmitted by a plurality of reference location devices, obtaining location information for the plurality of reference location devices, and determining the orientation of the base station antenna based on the measurement values and the location information.
Method, devices and computer program for mobile device positioning in a wireless network
Device, method and computer program to make better use of measurements of received signals for determining location are provided. A client device is configured to receive a signal that contains a reference symbol modulated onto a plurality of subcarriers. The client device determines a plurality of weights based on the reference symbol and line-of-sight channel frequency responses for the subcarriers, so that each of the plurality of weights is associated with one of the subcarriers. The client device determines a gain associated with the received signal using the plurality of weights. A network device may receive from the client device information indicative of gains, wherein a gain indicates a signal strength at which the client device was able to receive a respective signal. The location of the client device may be determined by using information about network device locations, transmission directions, and the gains.
