Monitoring and/or recording a position of a tool in an elevator shaft
A system for monitoring and/or recording a position of a tool in an elevator shaft includes a position measuring system for measuring a position of the tool relative to an elevator car; a height measuring system for measuring a height of the elevator car in the elevator shaft; and an evaluation system designed to receive measured data from the position measuring system and the elevation measuring system and to determine a position of the tool relative to the elevator shaft from the measured data.
LOCATION-BASED FUNCTIONALITY USING ACOUSTIC LOCATION DETERMINATION TECHNIQUES
Systems and methods of providing location-based functionality using acoustic location determination techniques are disclosed. For instance, acoustic signals can be received from one or more transmitting devices associated with a real-time locating system. A location of a mobile computing device can be determined based at least in part on the received acoustic signals. One or more actions to perform can be determined based at least in part on a control scheme associated with the real-time locating system and the determined location. The one or more actions can be performed.

AD HOC POSITIONING OF MOBILE DEVICES USING NEAR ULTRASOUND SIGNALS
An approach for providing a lower cost real time location system in less trafficked areas of a building. This approach uses on-board audio capabilities of a mobile device to receive a room response trace resulting from a self-generated acoustic signal. By comparing the room response trace to a modeled room response trace, the location of the mobile device is determined.

Tracking system and tracking method
A tracking system includes a first device and a second device. The first device includes plural ultrasonic sources and an inertial measurement unit configured to detect inertial data. The second device includes at least one ultrasonic receiver and a processor. The processor is configured to receive the inertial data, estimate an orientation of the first device according to the received inertial data, determine a first ultrasonic transmitter from the ultrasonic transmitters according to the orientation of the first device and a location of the first device, and send an enablement command about the first ultrasonic transmitter to the first device. The enabled transmitter of the ultrasonic transmitters sends ultrasounds according to the enablement command, the at least one ultrasonic receiver is configured to receive the ultrasounds from the first ultrasonic transmitter, and the processor determines the location of the first device according to the received ultrasounds.
