SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SIDE-DIRECTED RADAR FROM A VEHICLE
A system and method to sense an environment based on data acquired by side looking radar. For example, a side looking radar is mounted on one or both sides of a ground-based vehicle and performs measurements from environment while the vehicle is moving. As the vehicle moves, a scan of the environment is therefore performed, wherein movement of the vehicle provides another dimension of information for the scan. In another example, the radar can further scan in the vertical plane at a fixed side looking angle to increase the field of view. A 3D map and localization can be determined from the scan.
LINEAR COMBINATIONS OF TRANSMIT SIGNALS BY A RECEIVER
A multi-port transmitter can synthesize and send a first plurality of transmit signals having a separability characteristic which permits them to be differentiated from one another. A receiver can then detect one or more receiver signals which include one or more combinations of received versions of the first plurality of transmit signals. The receiver may use the separability characteristic to determine the received versions of the first plurality of transmit signals from the one or more receiver signals. Then, the receiver may determine an estimated signal corresponding to the estimated receiver response to a second plurality of virtual transmit signals which comprise a combination of the first plurality of transmit signals. Determining the estimated signal may include forming a combination of the received versions of the first plurality of transmit signals.
Filtering Undesired Polarization of Signals Transmitted From A Chip To A Waveguide Unit
A communication system is disclosed. The system may include an antenna unit having a port. The system may also include a communication chip communicably coupled to the antenna unit and having an antenna configured to transmit electromagnetic signals into the port. In addition, the system may include a slotted structure configured for receiving the electromagnetic signals from the antenna and coupling the electromagnetic signals from the antenna into the port.
Cylindrical polarimetric phased array radar
A method of collecting data using a polarimetric phased array antenna is described. The method includes directing electromagnetic signals to selected panels of an array of panels so as to transmit a dual H and V polarized electromagnetic beam (1) having the same beam width in all azimuth directions and (2) maintaining cross-polarization isolation via orthogonal dual-polarizations in all beam pointing directions. The panels include antennas having a horizontally (H) polarized array element and a vertically (V) polarized array element arranged to form two orthogonally polarized horizontal and vertical radiating fields which together form the dual H and V polarized electromagnetic beam. The array of panels is arranged so as to form a substantially cylindrical configuration on a support system. Reflection signals sensed by the selected panels formed by scattering of said dual H and V polarized electromagnetic beam are received and have a reflection frequency spectrum.
Pulse doppler radar range and velocity measurements
Systems and methods are disclosed to determine an unambiguous radial velocity for weather phenomena using weather radar that is not limited by the Doppler Dilemma. Some embodiments include transmitting a complex waveform and using the returned electromagnetic signal to determine the unambiguous radial velocity.
Remote detection and measurement of objects
Provided are methods of using electromagnetic waves for detecting metal and/or dielectric objects. Methods include directing microwave and/or mm wave radiation in a predetermined direction using a transmission apparatus, including a transmission element; receiving radiation from an entity resulting from the transmitted radiation using a detection apparatus; and generating one or more detection signals in the frequency domain using the detection apparatus. Methods may include operating a controller, wherein operating the controller includes causing the transmitted radiation to be swept over a predetermined range of frequencies, performing a transform operation on the detection signal(s) to generate one or more transformed signals in the time domain, and determining, from one or more features of the transformed signal, one or more dimensions of a metallic or dielectric object upon which the transmitted radiation is incident. A system and method for remote detection and/or identification of a metallic threat object using late time response (LTR) signals is also disclosed.
WINDSHIELD INCLUDING VEHICLE-MOUNTED RADAR
A windshield includes a radar that detects an object around the radar with transmitted and received radio waves in a millimeter band and a radar window on which at least a portion of the radio waves is incident. The windshield includes a windshield main body including a single glass layer or at least one glass layer on which a resin layer is laminated. Both of the windshield main body and the radar window are plate-shaped. An area of the radar window is smaller than an area of the windshield main body. A dielectric constant of the radar window is smaller than a dielectric constant of the glass layer. At least a portion of a side surface connecting an outer surface and an inner surface of the radar window is in contact with a side surface connecting an outer surface and an inner surface of the windshield main body.
Method For Classification Of Precipitation Type Based On Deep Learning
According to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure, a method of classifying a precipitation type based on deep learning performed by a computing device is disclosed. The method may include: receiving first sensor data and second sensor data measured in a satellite; and generating training data based on at least a part of the first sensor data overlapping the second sensor data.
DUAL-POLARIZED MIMO RADAR
A radar system with a transmit pipeline transmitting radio signals, and with a receive pipeline receiving radio signals including radio signals transmitted by own transmitters and reflected from objects in an environment, and interfering radio signals transmitted by other radar systems. The receive pipeline provides interference immunity from interfering radio signals transmitted by other radar systems. The transmit pipeline and/or the receive pipeline avoid transmitting radio signals that interfere with the other radar systems. The receive pipeline includes dual polarization receive channels. The interfering radio signals are a different polarization than the radio signals transmitted by own transmitters and reflected from targets in the environment. The receive pipeline provides improved signal handling dynamic range to avoid receive channels saturating at A-to-D converter stage before the radio signal has reached the digital signal processing domain.
TERAHERTZ SECURITY INSPECTION ROBOT
A terahertz security inspection robot is provided, including: a housing including a main housing and a head housing rotatably connected to the main housing; a terahertz wave imaging mechanism including a mirror assembly arranged in the head housing and a detector array arranged in the main housing; and a rotating mechanism configured to cause the head housing and the mirror assembly located in the head housing to rotate with respect to the main housing, so that the mirror assembly of the terahertz wave imaging mechanism is oriented in different directions to respectively perform terahertz scanning and imaging on objects to be inspected in different inspection regions in a security inspection scene.
