Real-time traffic monitoring systems and methods
Various embodiments of the invention provide methods, systems, and computer program products for monitoring a landscape surrounding an object such as a vehicle and signaling neighboring objects, such as other vehicles or pedestrians, as to whether it is safe or not to move around the object. Specifically, a portion of landscape surrounding an object is monitored using a network of object recognition devices that are capable of recognizing objects against the portion of landscape. A first object is detected by one of the devices and a determination is made as to whether the first object is at a distance to allow a second object to move safely around the object and avoid the first object. Upon determining the first object is not at such a distance, a message is displayed that can be viewed by the second object conveying to the second object not to move around the object.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ENHANCING DRIVER SITUATION AWARENESS AND ENVIRONMENT PERCEPTION AROUND A TRANSPORATION VEHICLE
A system for enhancing driver situation awareness and environment perception around a transportation vehicle. The system incorporates a plurality of object detecting sensors. The sensors are arranged for monitoring at least one critical zone around the vehicle. A plurality of addressable light-emitting diodes are operatively associated with the object detecting sensors. The addressable light-emitting diodes are located on the vehicle for visual display to the driver. When a given sensor detects an object in the critical zone, a detection signal is transmitted to a LED controller. Upon receiving the detection signal, the LED controller transmits a control signal to selectively activate only those addressable light-emitting diodes which are associated with the given sensor, such that the activated light-emitting diodes visually communicate to the driver a location of the detected object in the critical zone.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUDIBLY COMMUNICATING A STATUS OF A CONNECTED DEVICE OR SYSTEM
A system for audibly communicating a status of at least one operably connected device or system, includes a status module configured to receive a signal representative of a status of the at least one operably connected device or system and a transceiver operably connected to the status module, wherein the transceiver is configured to receive signals from the status module and to transmit a sound.
Efficient retrieval of aviation data and weather over low bandwidth links
A method of selectively displaying an image representative of a weather condition in relation to an aircraft includes selecting, on a display screen, a display area to display weather data based on the location of the aircraft, selecting a weather condition to display from among a plurality of weather conditions, determining if any weather conditions are available to be displayed outside the selected display area and if the weather conditions should be displayed outside the selected display area based on the location of the aircraft and the severity of the non-selected weather conditions, receiving, from a weather data source, weather data representative of the selected weather condition with respect to the selected display area, and receiving weather data representative of weather conditions that should be displayed outside the selected display area, the weather data including location data for the weather conditions, and displaying the image representative of the selected weather condition within the selected display area and the weather conditions that should be displayed outside the selected display area, the image based on the received weather data.
RF IN-WALL IMAGE REGISTRATION USING OPTICALLY-SENSED MARKERS
A radio frequency (RF) imaging device comprises an optical position sensor, an RF sensor assembly, a processor, and a memory. The optical position sensor captures an optical image of a field of view and outputs data representing the optical image. The RF sensor assembly is disposed at a first position and receives an RF signal for capturing an RF image of a portion of a space disposed behind a surface at the first position and outputs data representing the RF signal. The processor receives the data representing the optical image and the RF signal, and determines that an optical signature of a reference marker is present in the optical image. If the optical signature is present in the optical image, the processor defines the first position of the RF assembly as a reference position. The memory stores the data representing the RF signal in association with the reference position.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SIDE-DIRECTED RADAR FROM A VEHICLE
A system and method to sense an environment based on data acquired by side looking radar. For example, a side looking radar is mounted on one or both sides of a ground-based vehicle and performs measurements from environment while the vehicle is moving. As the vehicle moves, a scan of the environment is therefore performed, wherein movement of the vehicle provides another dimension of information for the scan. In another example, the radar can further scan in the vertical plane at a fixed side looking angle to increase the field of view. A 3D map and localization can be determined from the scan.
Partitioning for radar systems
Data is received characterizing a plurality of measurements for a scene received by a plurality of sensor elements forming a sensor array. A plurality of scene sub-domains is mapped to the plurality of sensor elements. A plurality of voxels associated with one of the plurality of scene sub-domains is mapped to a plurality of measurement sub-domains. One or more scattering coefficients of the scene is determined by applying the mapping to the received data. Related apparatus, systems, techniques, and articles are also described.
Emergency action system for use with a locomotive
An anti-collision system for railcars and locomotives and, more particularly, to a distance ranging and worker coupling protection system utilizes remote-sensing radar techniques for use with a locomotive and railcar. The anti-collision system may include an object detector device attached to a railcar or a locomotive that detects objects in a path of the railcar and the locomotive and a train display device electrically connected to the object detector device. The anti-collision system may also include an emergency action device which enables a crew member to stop the railcar or locomotive without communication to a locomotive operator when a hazard is recognized. The object detector device may include a remote sensor, a radio, and a microprocessor programmed to include data-logging to record and log all data from the anti-collision system.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PHASED ARRAY BEAM CONTROL
Described embodiments provide techniques for controlling a phased array system by a control system including one or more distributed control stations. At least one of the control stations displays a control interface having a status window, a beam window, and a scan window. The control system instructs the phased array system to operate in an operating mode selected from among selectable operating modes displayed in the status window. In the beam window, at least one beam is selected from among selectable beams available to track a target. The control system instructs the phased array system to form the selected beam and assigns the formed beam to (i) track a target detected by the phased array system, or (ii) monitor a selected location. The scan window displays (i) targets tracked by the phased array system, and (ii) beams generated by the phased array system.
ECHO IMAGE DISPLAY DEVICE
An echo image display device includes a receiver, an information memory, an intermediate image production component, and a display component. The receiver is configured to receive a reception signal that is a reflection of a transmitted signal. The information memory is configured to store detection information about the reception signal received by the receiver and position information about the reception signal in association with each other. The intermediate image production component is configured to produce an intermediate image based on at least the detection information for the reception signal at an N-th scan, and the detection information for the reception signal at an N−1-th scan having the same position information as the position information for the reception signal at the N-th scan.
