A textile deck assembly, method of fabricating, and method of installing onto a seat frame assembly. The textile deck assembly includes a platform portion and a plurality of straps coupled to a rearward edge of the platform portion. The materials of the textile deck assembly are matched so that the plurality of straps undergoes most or all of the elongation under load (e.g., when a person sits thereon), while the platform portion, even though it is flexible and compliant, is stretch resistant and undergoes little or no stretching under load. A battery of durability tests were performed on the textile deck assembly, including deflection testing, fatigue testing, and drop testing, and compared with conventional seat decks that utilize sinuous springs. The durability of the textile deck assembly to was found to outperform conventional seat decks.

The first tensile force is greater than the second tensile force, and the first maximum sag distance is less than the second maximum sag distance.

The textile panel is attached to and extends between the first member and the second member. A tension controlling system is attached to the textile panel. When a predetermined load fluctuation or larger occurs, the dampers expand or contract to exhibit a damping force, and a load fluctuation smaller than this does not cause the dampers to expand or contract and is alleviated by elasticity of the front torsion bar and the rear torsion bar. An impact absorbing characteristic is thereby improved with a simple structure.

The body support member includes a shape memory material extending in at least one of the lateral and longitudinal directions, wherein the shape memory material is attached to the body support member at two spaced apart locations. The shape memory material is contractible between at least a non-energized state and an energized state in response to an application of energy. The shape memory material biases the flexible body support member between the first and second configurations when the shape memory material is contracted to the energized state. Other office systems incorporating shape memory materials are also provided.
